This Just In…Post on Sega’s Site Affirms
We have this image just coming in courtesy of News Tipster Impish…it is on Sega of America’s Site and it affirms the presence of Banjo and Kazooie and console specific characters in Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing.
The image all but affirms something Steve Lycett had hinted against–Banjo-Kazooie will be specific to the XBOX360 edition of the game. We may have our announcement before it’s formally introduced by Sega.
Wednesday Update: You may notice that all the links to Sega’s side of things are broken–that’s because Sega has removed the box art in question. Something is up.
The image is available–it is small–below. But it does appear legitimate. We thank Impish for sending the information in via our News Tips system. Clearly, this opens up a whole new dimension to who might be in and out for ASR, and we will be sure to keep on top of it all.
2nd Update: We want to let you know that, at least for right now and at least according to some of the other box art that’s been released, Banjo and Kazooie will be the only console specific character. So far, other box art indicates nothing else that’s console specific. So, for those wondering about the possibilities of, for example, Mario in the Wii edition, or Sackboy in the PS3…yes, it’s possible, but don’t hold your breath. This may be an exclusive to drive people to the XBOX360 edition.

Sonic sucks. That is quite obvious. That is why SEGA bugged Microsoft to include GOOD characters.

NinMicroSega: I agree with RabidSonicFan. Why are you even here if you don’t even like Sonic at all? Personally, even if you are just a plain old Sega fans, that is still no excuse to just say that you hate Sonic on a news blog mostly Sonic based and with many Sonic fans. It may be your opinion, but in terms of saying this in front of many Sonic fans is still unnecessary. Really. You never had to bring your thoughts about Sonic in front of all of us. Now, before you say it or not, if you think us Sonic fans are that pathetic, then any reasoning behind that must be even more pathetic, for we Sonic fans are human, and we can like something that you don’t like no matter how strongly you disagree.
If you like anything other than Sonic that has to do with Sega, fine, but please do not waste your breath saying needless things about your hatred of Sonic in front of people in a more Sonic based news blog who don’t even care or don’t have to read that. Some things are better not said to many, and to me, your reasoning for what you just said about Sonic, while it may be just the basis of your opinion, or something you have the right to, does not mean there is a requirement that states that you have to say it in front of all of us.

Sega already proved their lameness with two highly visible choices (and many more not so visible);
1) Outrun for these generation systems was only available in Europe. When they could have made so much extra money by making it available in the states. FAIL.
2) every Sonic game that has come out after those produced for Sega machines.
So now they claim allegiance to the Xbox? Not even to the Wii, which would be the most obvious choice?

That is… AWESOME!!! I love when they go outside the box and do something amazing like that! I’m not a fan of Banjoo-Kazooie, but it’s some characters I recognize, and I’m so happy to see some more familiar faces in this game. But I’ll still get the wii version….

If the PS3 version gets an exclusive character I hope for Jak & Daxter,Jak is known for his good racing! I’m really happy we’re quite possibly getting exclusives to begin with though,so even If Jak & Daxter isn’t in I’ll still be happy,a new character is always a welcome addition in my book.
It is a bit of a random slip-up, hmm. SEGA loves them some of that, it seems.
The box art really seems strange though, particularly the Banjo-Kazooie text below the logo. Seems like some kind of weird Photoshop, only it’s from SEGA’s own website so…?
I’d have thought the console-specific character names would appear in the form of a round sticker or something.

YAY! Bajo Kazooie is awesome! I really like the old games! They’re awesome! I will probably get Banjo Kazooie on Xbox Arcade on my 360. I usally use a emu, but sometimes you get a better experience if you play it on a console on the big screen! And that’s the way I want to play this awesome game! And I’m so gonna get the 360 version! I want Bajo Kazooie! It’s really fun that it’s more than SEGA chracters in the game! What’s next!? Masterchief maybe. ROFL! XD
