Researchers Comparing with Already Dumped Version
If you’d like to own a little piece of forgotten Sonic history, you may have a chance on EBay right now. But don’t whip out the PayPal account just yet.
There remains about four days to bid on a set of two cartridges, which includes Pengo and a prototype copy of Sonic Crackers. Crackers, for those unaware, is an early prototype of Knuckles Chaotix, and is believed to be nothing more than an engine test.
That’s what makes this auction interesting–do the contents of the cartridge contain more than an engine test? The auction description only states it’s an “early version.” A screenshot off a television is posted on the auction and from that, it can’t yet be determined whether this is different from an already widely available prototype. Community researchers are on the case to find out. For the moment, it’s being assumed the cartridge is no different than what’s available.
So, if you’re interested in bidding, keep that in mind. As of the time of this article’s publication, the top bid stands at $103.49.

I wonder why they called it Sonic Crackers ?
@Edwin Shy: SEGA had a tradition of giving prototypes for games silly names.
@Edwin Shy and Speeding Hedgehog
