This, With Launch Day a Month Away
When Sonic fans–at least those in North America–set out to purchase Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing next month, they may be treated to a nice discount on nearly all editions of the game.
This story started with a news tip from Skai Cyan, who informed us of Gamestop’s price cuts for ASR. The retailer’s website reflects price points of $49.99 for the next-generation versions of the game–both on XBOX360 and PS3. That is atypical from a normal $59.99 price point. Further, the Wii edition of ASR has a $39.99 price point listed–a nice change from the usual $49.99 prices of new releases. The DS edition sits at $29.99.
But that’s not all. We did some digging and found that other U.S. retailers are following suit. Toys ‘R’ Us also reflects the same price points for ASR. Meanwhile, Wal-Mart shows XBOX 360 and PS3 editions of the game with a $49.82 price, but there’s no cut yet for the Wii edition.
It’s not yet clear whether UK retailers will offer the same price break to consumers.
So, with about a month to go until launch day, fans–and their wallets–have something more to look forward to when purchasing the game. Dang it! Now I have even more reason to buy this game when it comes out!!!
Sweet that means I can get the 360 & DS versions together
I coulda told you this. I pre-ordered the game and payed it’s full price last week, and with tax it came out to only about $54.
Sounds… good? I mean, yeah, it is good. Cheaper is always good. I just hope it’s still worth the price.
YAY!
I can’t buy this game when it’s expensive! So i price cut is perfect for me! Or… I can buy it, but I don’t want to waste my money on a mediocre game.
Big deal, I paid $48.99 even. No shipping and no tax. Since it’s a pre-order I’m guaranteed that price even if the price goes up again, or even better if the price goes down then I pay even less.
If this is true, I better let my retailer know. I pre-ordered in full price at the $60 mark. I’m sure I can get that money back, or at least invest it in another pre order title.
Good price. But what’s the price of 360 version on Best Buy?
I preordered the 360 version but no the DS but oh well 80 something isn`t too much
Honestly, I had no idea this wasn’t already common knowledge. I guess working at GameStop (where this has been the listed pricing for quite some time) can do that to a guy.
