You Can’t Spell Ignorant Witho…Wait, What?
Admittedly, in 2009 and a bit of 2008, much of the community (and, yes, this site) gave a pounding for what appeared to be overt and blatant anti-Sonic bias. Old habits die hard; we seemingly can’t be arsed to even show you their new logo.
In many ways, that’s why it’s a relief to tell you that the gaming megasite will on Wednesday be conducting a twelve hour online fundraiser for the victims of the Haiti earthquake.
The drive will include multiple items for auction, including a signed Forza 3 branded XBOX 360 and…a replica gold plated gun from Bayonetta. It appears Sega and/or Platinum Games is getting in on the charity event.
Some IGN staffers will be playing Modern Warfare 2 for the 12 hours. They’ll start at level 1, and for each level they improve to, the staffers’ donations will improve.
Other editors will participate in a webcasted debate-a-thon, hosted by IGN’s Jessica Chobot. And yes, Hilary Goldstein will be among the talent sounding off.
Different from other Haiti fundraisers is that all proceeded raised will be going to Habitat for Humanity. To date an overwhelming majority of relief funds have been sent to the Red Cross’s way.
That will all begin this Wednesday, at noon, eastern time.

Well that’s nice of them…
Still not forgiving them, tho.
IGN regularly holds fundraisers with publishers to decide review scores.
*rimshot*
Maybe doing something nice but I still don`t like them
Good for them. To bad that after their little, “Leaked Sega/Playstation document” fiasco, I refuse to visit their site anymore.
Instead of sending money directly to the source buy our stuff instead.
Their reviews are BLÖ! But other stuff they do are NICE!
Not for nothing but people are babies, OMG! they are trying to sue a company because sonic unleashed got a poor rating. IT iS A VIDEO GAME!
Giving charity does not excuse bribery for reviews.
They’re helping out dieing people, and you guys are still holding a grudge over a single video game review?
They are doing a good deed and we should give them props get over the anti sonic stuff from the last couple of years. Heh can’t say that last part with a straight face. Good luck to the websites holding Haiti Fundraisers and to you people donate I salute you!!!!!
I do not support/dispise companies, since they are comprised of many individuals. I just hate the crappy reviews they put out, regardless of whether I agree with them or not.
@CartoonistGuy: Remember that the review and the charity are two different subjects. Just because they’re doing something nice for a place in need doesn’t mean we should forgive them for doing something bad (and then trying to rub it in our faces later).
It’s like a guy who commits rape (a bit out there, I know) who’s suddenly forgiven for giving food to the homeless, sure it’s a nice gesture to them, but the ones they hurt should never have to forgive them.
