At Least One Source Told to Keep Quiet Beforehand
TSSZ News has learned of at least one news source that was warned by Sega not to post any of the details that were disclosed in a report concerning Project Needlemouse we and a handful of others had Friday.
That story contained, among other things, details on a formal name for Project Needlemouse, expected formats for the title, zone names, and notes on structure.
TSSZ News removed that post early Saturday morning not at the request of Sega, but at the request of a third party. The story was not removed on the basis of factual error.
Now, comes word today from the head of Sega Nerds via their forum that they wanted to cover that same story, but were advised within Sega not to do so:
For anyone wondering if we’ve missed this story (because it’s still not on the front page) we haven’t.
[....]SEGA are really putting their foot down on this one. I was [....] pre-warned by a SEGA employee that it’s best not to post (the story) just yet.
No elaboration was made on any sanctions or ramifications proposed if Sega Nerds staff did not comply with the request.
Clearly, something very unpleasant is happening internally within the company on the heels of those Needlemouse details being revealed, and damage control is well underway. If Sega and their employees are pre-emptively asking news outlets not to relay the information, you may consider this a confirmation of some, if not all the information that was reported here and elsewhere to be accurate.
Internally, the magnitude of the breach within Sega may be on a level not seen in quite some time–if these actions are any indication.
With this in mind, TSSZ News is not yet reviving the story concerning Needlemouse from Friday. But in light of this particular information, TSSZ News will now treat related matters as a leak, and not as pure rumor. We will keep tabs.

Sega should show us the new trailer
Oh man. Sounds intense…I can’t wait to see if any of the info reported earlier turns out to be true.
Geezus, what the hell’s happening here? Who’s the agent provocateur that’s basically making SEGA unable to conceal anything before release?
I’m not really mad about it as long as the game comes out well, but man, what the fucking shit? This has long since become ridiculous.
Oh, damn it. I’m not blaming SEGA for this, but this is a complete letdonm. I thought that SEGA would’ve tightened their security to at least 2X that of Unleashed’s.
At least they’re resolving the matter as fast as they can.
Wow, SEGA is quickly becoming the absolute WORST game company at keeping secrets in my mind, even above Sony and Microsoft! The fact that they keep trying to cover things up after the fact (whereas the others I just mentioned usually do not, choosing instead to decline to comment on such matters) is hilarious. They’re only proving it’s real, after all.
Sega stop playing your stupid blog games and reveal the damn game.
I would like to remind everyone how Unleashed being leaked and hitting the blogosphere forced them into unveiling it officially, I wonder if that would work again.
It’s SEGA’s fult for not telling us anything sooner. If they give people a reasonable amount of information, they don’t go digging for more.
SEGA held out this game info too long. And this happens. They brought this upon themselves. You see, people have a limit of patience.
But SEGA doesn’t feed even one piece info to the hungry fans and even taunting them with quizes to get what they want. Holding a string of info over them and getting them to put in the right answers. They succeed in getting the info only to find out it’s just art.
The hungry cannot take anymore after waiting so long and start digging. One has finally found the food that they needed. However they are not selfish as they share it around with everyone only to have SEGA take it away from all of them.
Do you see what I’m getting at? If you don’t even reveal a title of a game or any piece of info other than one concept art that we worked hard at some quiz to get, people are going to start getting dirty.
Not the best idea SEGA. You’re treading on thin ice doing this to fans knowing well the risk of the game unappealing to the fans.
After a few bad Sonic games that have happened i’m not very optimistic about things. But you better make this game really good if you’re going to treat fans with little to no info any longer.
Now granted in a way it’s also the leaker’s fault but what fan would blame a leaker and hate him unless it were lies? And now because SEGA stepped in to have it removed, they just confirmed those rumors themselves. Way to go SEGA!
don’t worry SEGA Sonic Team I’m bye!
I hope SEGA and SONIC TEAM are united and continue to produce strong games such as Unleashed, etc…
This leak of information is a bit of a letdown on Project Needlemouse. If Sega is allowing people to view this information, it sort of reduces the hype on it.
Ah, another leak! I mean, it’s gotten ridiculous now. It’s no secret that SEGA runs the Sonic community, in fact Retro is theirs as well. SEGA I’m sure is much better at security than their puppets believe due to the lies SEGA spreads around. Many are sites which are cleanly in illegal territory and which surely should anger SEGA otherwise… what, they don’t!? When they even show up at Summer of Sonic, SEGA OF EUROPE spondered event in the UK, they don’t do anything to a site full of disassemblies!? Then they also talk to Seen and Yasuhara and nothing happens to them? Hey something’s fishy here. Likewise on the SSRG, they told them “Hey, remove HackTube” but nothing about the roms. I don’t think that’s possible in a normal world, at least how it is at this moment! Then add to that the Taxman affair… and Sonic Nexus, of which Tweaker is team member. Fishy, indeed.
I think TSSZ is endorsed by some SEGA insiders/employee/people as well, for example.
I was involved in some of the August Retro incidents, but don’t take me wrong, I actually believe what I’m saying. I wouldn’t have put my nick, my email and wouldn’t have posted my IP if I hadn’t.

Oh. My. God.
Get off the internet and go outside. It’s a beautiful day.
Water is never gonna boil if you keep staring at it.
I’ll call you when dinner is ready.

Its quite cool! enjoy
I enjoyed hearing about the game, since we had no info on it but seriously, Sega needs to seriously fire some people. All these leaks are rediculous.
man, they just don’t learn.
Capcom is just as bad as Sega…they actually show things to sites but “ask” them not to post the info. Yeah, that’s brilliant.
Sounds like intense stuff going on in SEGA’s PR and DC Depts.
