Needlemouse Leak: Sega Pre-Emptively Censoring Coverage?

At Least One Source Told to Keep Quiet Beforehand

TSSZ News has learned of at least one news source that was warned by Sega not to post any of the details that were disclosed in a report concerning Project Needlemouse we and a handful of others had Friday.

That story contained, among other things, details on a formal name for Project Needlemouse, expected formats for the title, zone names, and notes on structure.

TSSZ News removed that post early Saturday morning not at the request of Sega, but at the request of a third party.  The story was not removed on the basis of factual error.

Now, comes word today from the head of Sega Nerds via their forum that they wanted to cover that same story, but were advised within Sega not to do so:

For anyone wondering if we’ve missed this story (because it’s still not on the front page) we haven’t.
[....]

SEGA are really putting their foot down on this one.  I was [....] pre-warned by a SEGA employee that it’s best not to post (the story) just yet.

No elaboration was made on any sanctions or ramifications proposed if Sega Nerds staff did not comply with the request.

Clearly, something very unpleasant is happening internally within the company on the heels of those Needlemouse details being revealed, and damage control is well underway.  If Sega and their employees are pre-emptively asking news outlets not to relay the information, you may consider this a confirmation of some, if not all the information that was reported here and elsewhere to be accurate.

Internally, the magnitude of the breach within Sega may be on a level not seen in quite some time–if these actions are any indication.

With this in mind, TSSZ News is not yet reviving the story concerning Needlemouse from Friday.  But in light of this particular information, TSSZ News will now treat related matters as a leak, and not as pure rumor.  We will keep tabs.
