German Mag Gives High Marks for ASR

But Mario Kart Comparisons Persist

We have word in that one of Germany’s top gaming magazines, Computer Bild Spiele, has reviewed both the HD and Wii editions of Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing.

As with Games Master, different scores were given for different versions.  The magazine gave their thumbs up to track and character selection, but from what we know, there are two items of note.  First, as so many others have cited just from playing the demo build of ASR released this week, there are frame rate issues.  Also, the Mario Kart comparisons once again came into play, and once again, Computer Bild Spiele believes ASR falls short of Nintendo’s long running franchise.

To go by the numbers, you need to go by Germany’s grading system, which may be a bit different from what you’re used to–where lower numbers are better. The XBOX360 and PS3 editions were given a score of 2.32.  That’s about a B+ grade, if not close to the 90 percentile.  The Wii version was given a 2.46 score.  Both were given the “good” designation–so in all, if you care the most about scores, you can chalk both these up in the 80s range, if not high 80s.

With launch day for ASR now about a week and a half way, you can expect more review scores to come in–and we’ll be here to relay the professional opinions of ASR.
