More than 4 Minutes of What to Expect
The DS demo of Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing was evidently only released to North American audiences yesterday, with a demo for Europe happening in short order.
So, for our international friends, here’s what you’re missing.
With the help of NeoGAFer RobbieNick, we have below a very long look at what to expect from both the demo and, consequently, the game when it’s released next week. The video shows off Sonic in Seaside Hill, and one of the first things you’ll notice is how similar the track looks to its console counterparts. It appears Sumo Digital took great care to faithfully recreate the experience for portable consumers.
More from RobbieNick’s impressions:
Plays at 60 fps like speed racer. You only play as Sonic. The track is a little too wide, but designed the same as the 360 demo track. There are some framerate stutters with weapons, but not really bad in any way. [....] It’s very good for what limited resources they had.
So, with that in mind, enjoy the video below. And if you’ve played the demo, you can share your impressions in the discussion area below.

Not bad.
Playing it now. It’s fun, it’s solid, and I look forward to the final product.
Looks like a PS1 game.
Well, it doesn’t look too bad.
But the sound of the engine us just soo annoying! Sounds like the game is broken… but it still looks pretty good.
Not too bad for DS Version.
Anyone noticed the Boanaza Bros at 0:22 ?
The drifting sound is just… Aaahh… X__x
The game itself looks pretty good.
Getting close to release now… I won’t be playing this version until the price drops, however
For a game with choppy graphics it moves preaty nice
I downloaded the ds demo last night. The game was fun but a bit hard…I was never good at racing games but hopefully I will be able to play this one.
Hey Tristan have you heard about how SEGA took off Sonic Winter Olympic Games off the app store?
About what I expected.
Cool but they releeased the DS demo before the PS3 one?
Really fun and after playing hard mode a few times, it gets easy to get in the top 3. I find being able to look back with the y button pretty useless though. And missiles will ALWAYS get you. Nothing stops those lil’ buggers except the bubble shield or your all-star move which I found hard to control. But other than that *in Espio’s voice* No complaints.
i’m just gonna say this.
I downloaded and there’s one thing that i really enjoy about this game, when you fall off the track, it doesn’t take YEARS for the game to put you back on the track, unlike Mario Kart Wii >.>
Lolz, that’s all, you have no idea how much mario kart is a turn off for me because of that one reason XD
Played the demo, ad since I can’t buy the 3360 version until later I’m getting the DS one. Heck of a lot faster than Mario Kart DS, although I agree it was way too easy to get Top 3. Hard to escape the missiles too…
But seeing Bonanza Bros made me look past all that.
