Same Mag Gave Mario Kart Wii 6/10
TSSZ News has learned, but has not yet confirmed, that the British based multiplatform magazine GamesTM, run by Future Publishing, has given the XBOX 360/PS3 edition of Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing an unsettling score of 5 out of 10.
We do not have any further details beyond the score. To put this in some perspective, the same magazine lambasted Mario Kart Wii, giving the title a 6 out of 10 in its May 2008 issue. GamesTM gave Sonic Unleashed the same 5/10 score back in its January 2009 issue.
Also of note, Future Publishing also runs a plethora of other gaming magazines, including Edge, and GamesMaster–who gave ASR an 83 percent score across all home console platforms. Future also publishes official magazines, including Nintendo Power in North America, Official Nintendo Magazine in the UK, XBOX360: The Official Magazine, and several official Sony magazines.
We are trying to find more information on this story, but the score alone may be enough to exacerbate growing concern that problems found in earlier ASR builds and demos may not be fixed in the game going to store shelves. We will keep you updated.

Oh god, here we go again. another sonic game, another bad score.
this one was expected.. but i wil be wowed if itm happen to sonic 4…Also it gots a lot of high scores
I’m guessing they just were biased against kart racing games. Not worrying me. I’m still gonna get it.
…the vast majority of reviewers use a 5-10 scale, where 7 is the average. This might be one of the rare reviewers that actually use the 1-10 scale, which I use, where 5 is the average. I really don’t see this game getting lower than a 5 (on a 1-10 scale) so we’ll just have to wait and see why they might have given it that score.
@sonikdude101
Not likely, The magazine gave Mario Kart Wii a 6/10, and EVERYONE is a Mario kiss up. Forget this reviewer.
Finally a reviewer who finally realises how crappy mariokart is.
lolz, i don’t like Mario Kart either, i don’t like how slow it feels, and i hate the items that are used, and falling of the stage is a bish, but still i don’t think it deserves a 6/10
That being said, i don’t think ASR deserves a 5/10, i wonder if people rate sonic games bad just on principal =O
Mind if i change the topic really quick
How many americans are going to enter the Ryu Action Figure Sweepstakes thing =O
I don’t really care about the reviews for this game. The demo is fun as all get-out and that’s enough to make me want the game.
@Professor Pickle
GamesTM use 5 for an ‘average’ game rather than 7 like most magazines do, just as you thought. Its right there in their explaination of review scores at the contents page of every issue.
They also gave sonic rush adventure a 5/10…….spunds like they hate sonic
@tennis7657: Yeah, you’re right, forget this loser. but ASR is getting positive scores by some other sources like gamesmaster, who gave an 83% and Computer Bild Spiele, who gave it an A.
@sonikdude101 & tennis7957: Are you guys serious? Do you expect all games magazines to give your favorite games brilliant reviews and then slate them when they don’t. I subcribe to this magazine and it’s one of the most reliable games publications i read. They gave ASR 5 out of 10 because to them the game is avarage and after playing the demo myself i agree that the game is avarage. Gamesmaster on the other hand are the most kid friendly games mag in the U.K. ASR being mostly aimed at kids means that they would give ASR a possitive review. You guys need to look into these things before slating publications that you more than likely don’t read.
The demo was good, so I bet it’s not gonna be as bad as they make it seem.
It’s either GamesTM gives very strict scores or same thing what TailsFox88 said.
Bloody hell, guess I’m going to self quote my sig:
” If only reviewers had BALLS, get off your knees and stop sucking the plumber’s rear end as if sweet nectar came out of it. Man up and admit that Sega all-stars racing is a more polished and finished game than bloody Mario Kart Wii”.
It really saddens me that most reviewers get on their four to kiss a plumber’s arse instead of having the integrity to at least once in their lives be imparcial and objective in a review. I pity them for not having dignity and praising their evil overlords Satoru Iwata and Reggie Fils Aime, the only man at NOA that actually fits the DK suit they have over there.
@Rolo: I don’t give a flying fuck what about this fucking score or your little, stupid ass, kart racing game biased magazine, i live in the U.S. KEYWORD: U.S. So i don’t know how the fuck your godamn scores get rated over there, and i don’t really care either. NOW FUCK OFF.
@Sjmaster: what the hell is wrong with you? mario kart is a great series, sure it has it’s problems, like every long running series has, but each installment adds something new and better to the formula. like mario kart wii adds bikes, for instance. You don’t have too, but im just saying, give the series a chance.
@sonikdude101 you’re an a-hole.
I don’t have the game just the demo for 360, and the gameplaay is actually really good.
Hehe. I’ve got the special…what can I call it…edidtion of the magazine Level here in sweden and they also gave it 5/10.
They said:
We need this game just as much as Sonic needs a car.
Theeey didn’t really like the car thing either.
@sonikdude: Just beacuse you’re american that doesn’t give you have the right to slate somthing that that you have no knowlage of. Have you read the review? No. So how can you judge it? i can assure you that there will more magazines and sites that will give this game an avarage score. Are you going to slate them too? This same “kart biased” magazine gave Mario Kart DS and 8/10. Did you know that? No because you’re just ignorant. It’s people like you that give this human race a bad name.
NOW FUCK OFF! (See, i can be childish too)
Mario kart on the snes and n64 was the finest. The series has not improved over time other than graphically, It has got only slightly worse and is still a good game however.
Gamestm review seems pretty spot on from my time with the demo. A decent/average game that has a lot of wasted potential.
Correction from my previous post. GamesTM gave Mario Kart DS 7/10 claiming it to be a “polishing of the Mario Kart concept and little else”.
