Multiple ASR PAL Versions Leaked in Europe

XBOX360, Wii Editions Out for Pirating, More Possible

If you don’t have a copy of Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing to play tonight, you may find great irony in this statement: The ones who likely do right now are European pirates.

TSSZ News has received word from Jack Wallace of Sonic Paradise that both the Wii and XBOX360 editions of ASR have been leaked via ISO onto various pirating websites, three days before the game’s proper launch there.  The leaked copies appear to be the PAL edition, meaning they are only compatible within Europe and other PAL territories.  As Sonic Paradise also practices, we will not directly link to those websites.

But here’s the kicker: their research has found a possible contributor to the leak, well known retailer GAME.  They have learned some GAME stores may have started selling ASR as early as yesterday–allowing those who legitimately purchase the game to distribute it to those who can’t yet play via illicit channels.

Further, Sonic Paradise has learned a dump of the DS edition may be underway to a particular pirating site.  That hasn’t yet been confirmed, nor has any indication that the PS3 edition is available as a part of this leak.

This is not unfamiliar territory to Sega.  Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games was also leaked early, and in-game video started popping up from Spain.  On Youtube, that was quickly met with takedown notices by Sega.

We’ll let you know if we hear anything further on this front.  Thanks to Jack Wallace of Sonic Paradise–who quipped that it’s “Leaks Day”–for sending this in.  If you have news to share, be sure to share it with us by clicking News Tips at the top of every page.
