Another Alleged Sonic 4 Leak Account

Promptly Deleted, It Spoke of Physics, Shields, and Bosses

With thanks to news tipster glem3, we have limited word of yet another account from someone who claims to have played Sonic the Hedgehog 4 via the PartnerNET release.

We say “limited” because the post detailing the full account didn’t last long–we don’t even know the screen name of whoever wrote it.  But we do know that the account originated from the GameFAQs forums, and we have a dead link of what was there.  Not two hours passed since we received the news tip and the post was blown out by moderators.

Glem3 tells us that the alleged account spoke of the game’s second boss, and also talked about environmental shields–yes, the plural, which may mean we’ll see a return to something resembling the lightning / water / fire combo, if not exactly that.

UPDATE: In Glem3‘s words, here’s a bit more detail on the above statement:

He said the second boss was the first boss of sonic 2, (albeit, with a twist), and that environmental shields would be included, but they “won’t work the same as sonic 3″.

What we do have verbatim is a one paragraph tidbit from the poster, which mostly details gameplay mechanics and physics:

Now about the gameplay. Level design is great. It is like a combination between Sonic Advance and the Classics. The game IS being made by Dimps. Jumping has some learning curve when going at high speeds. There is rewarding momentum and good acceleration. That makes it better than the spin dash. I mostly use the spin dash for upwards slopes when I screw up. And the speed… How to describe it? Faster than classic Sonic. Tad slower than Rush (When not using the Speed Boost). The leaked video can pretty much describe it better than me. But if you grab momentum you can go very fast a la Sonic 2 and 3 style. But once again, when going so fast you need to master the jumping height. And the homing attack adds to the speed.

If we can verify or recover anything more to this account, we will update this story.  For the moment, this is all we have, and, of course, take it with a grain of salt.  Still, we thank Glem3 for sending in the tip to us.  If you have news to share, be sure to share it with us by clicking News Tips at the top of every page.
