Still a Large Portion Unsure
We have a plurality in the results of the latest TSSZ News @Issue poll concerning Sonic the Hedgehog 4.
We asked if you thought the coming series would break the long abhorred, but also long standing Sonic Cycle meme. Out of 840 votes, 46 percent said the game would–hopefully putting it to rest.
Still, 28 percent of those who participated said it wouldn’t, and an abnormally large crowd–26 percent–voted Unsure. That indicates there still are a lot of fans on the fence with the next Sonic.

The thing is, as seen in the Alpha build video and confirmed by that Brazillian dude on Retro, who had tested the final build, SEGA still haven’t a clue what made the original Sonics so great.
In Sonic 4, they’ve nailed the aesthetics and in my opinion sound, but the level desgin is still a pretty straight line and instead of recreating the original physics engine of the original games, they remade levels, enemies and bosses. The only reason why people are so hyped for this shit is because SEGA is very good at saying what people want to hear, thus sending expectations way high, but as proven time and time again, they cannot live up to their promises.
tl;dr: SEGA forgot how to make classic Sonic games, why should Sonic 4 be any different?
Some guy named Endri says Sonic 4 is going to suck, he’s instantly hailed as a reputable source without any shadow of a doubt. Game Informer and Nintendo Power display positive attitudes towards it, and they’re written off as hearsay or rumor. Sonic Retro, the best source for confirmation bias.
Should of been a option for people who never thought the Sonic cycle existedin the first place.

I completly agree. I don’t think there ever was a Sonic cycle. The entire stupid idea is based on Sonic 06 and Sonic Unleashed. No other Sonic game fits the so called cycle.
Surely people saying that it’s broken the cycle is PART of the cycle? The step where people get their hopes up…
SONIC 06 wasn’t even as bad as they say. It was still enjoyable even with those bugs, glitches, ETC………… They just complain about voices. I think they started the so called cycle

I also agree with Bob. Sonic Cycle only really works for Sonic ’06. It doesn’t really apply for all the other games. Unleashed was written off by a lot of people when screens leaked and they saw the Werehog render. Black Knight was condemned to moment the first pic was shown. Rush games did fine, no “Cycle” there.
So I didn’t vote.
EDIT: Also Sonic Heroes. Forgot about that one. But 2 games is hardly a cycle.
