God of War III, Nintendo Hardware Big Winners
Though hardware sales were slightly down year-to-year for the month, the 10 percent increase in software sales estimated by NPD Group lead to an overall revenue increase of six percent.
That doesn’t sound impressive, but factor in that industry sales were down by double digits in the first two months of 2010, and you have the industry’s third best performance recorded outside of the Holidays.
NPD reports total industry revenue of $1.52 billion, up from last month’s $1.44 billion mark. Of that number, $875.3 million composed of software sales, while hardware held a $440.5 million share.
In hardware, Nintendo’s DS was the top seller for March, moving over 700,000 units and likely helped by the recent release of the DSi XL. The Wii was second with 557,500 units, followed by XBOX360 and PS3–the latter two in the lower 300K range.
On the software side, the top seller was Sony’s God of War III, moving 1.1 million copies. No Sega titles were in the NPD’s top 10 sellers.

I noticed alot more DS systems floating around in public recently, and I think what boosted it recently was the new Pokemon cuz that’s what most were playing. I’ll be getting another DS soon since my old ones are broken.
Sweet, I love GOW.
In the end… there will be only chaos!
