Conflicting Information Complements More Screenshots
From Spanish news source Sonic Paradise comes word from a well known Spanish magazine that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 could be more episodic than previously reported.
The latest issue of Nintendo Accion magazine reports that the series will consist of “5 capítulos descargables e independientes.” Translated, the article states Sonic 4 will be 5 episodes. That’s noteworthy because in March, we cited British magazine NGamer, which claimed Sonic 4 would only be a 3 episode affair. If the former source is correct, we could have 20 or more main zones to contend with in this chapter.
Ultimately, who’s right may come down to a combination of who you want to believe and how well the series’s early installments sell. But believe this–the tidbit came out of a one page preview from the magazine, and it’s been scanned. We have that available for your review below–there are a couple new shots within.

Well, if it were five episodes, that would make the potential Gamerscore add up to 1000, which is the same as a retail game.

And we still don’t even have a release date for the first one. This is going to turn into another episodic gaming nigtmare… Telltale are the only ones to get it right.

Anyway, I’d rather think about 4 episodes… or maybe a VERY long series? Knowing that WiiWare games are limited to 40MB, the disc retail edition still could have more than 100 episodes. Imagine it, a disc edition of Sonic 4 with ~1700 LEVELZ.

Episode V: Sonic & Knuckles
Anyways, I’ll believe it when I hear it from SEGA themselves; I’m treating this as a rumor for now.
This would be incredible. Please. We’ve waited so long for more, delicious 2D Sonic goodness…we DESERVE 5 episodes for standing by Sonic through thick and thin.

The physics were horrible unlike the classics
there were a lot of stupid speed boosters which automatically turn you into the rolling form
there weer a lot of springs-to-springs

the spindash sucks and the way when sonic spindashes up a ramp then he jumps in the sky tsk tsk OMG ughhh thats the reason it will suck and they probably wont fix the physics and adjust them like in the classics not to mention they wont change the level design which suck(not the themes the placements like boosters,spring-to-springs etc) it just doesnt seem worthy of the name sonic 4 if the game would be named sonic classic HD remix i would be fine with that
Ahh, its very to see when Sonic 4 news comes up there is always an ass who things he knows everything about the game.
With great news like this theres always someone to counterbalance it with negativity, its their way of stopping people from becoming to happy with Sonic games, beacuse such a thing would be crazy.
Oh and a few other things, why did they use Sonic’s render from Unleashed? Seems kinda weird. Also how come everyone is saying Epidsode II will be Sonic 2? I think its preetty obvious that from what we learned from the teaser from the end of Epidsode 1 that Sonic CD will be next on the list

I have a feeling the order is going to go like this in terms of how stages and music goes:
Ep. 1 – Sonic 1 & 2
Ep. 2 – Mostly Sonic 2
Ep. 3 – Sonic CD
Ep. 4 – Sonic 3 & Knuckles
Ep. 5 – Whole damn thing is going to be original!
I’m just really hoping we don’t get Shadow in one of these episodes. Any character made in the Adventure-era really shouldn’t be included as well. While I would love them to be in Sonic 4, if you want to keep a Sonic game as retro as you can get while still being current with the times, you can’t have gun-wielding black-furred hedgehogs, pyrokinetic pussycats, and, most of all, no damn Chip! Even though if they put Nack/Fang in any of the episodes, that would be some hell of a nostalgic kick (…or the Chaotix…)!

I expect Half Life 2 Episode 3 to come out before Sonic 4 Episode 5. Seeing as how the Episode 1 hasn’t posted any gameplay videos or revealed the second Zone, how can the release schedule for the other episodes be anything but a complete wreck?
I like how everyone’s comparing them to older games. Even though they’ve already stated “episode 2 will contain more new content”

Those have to be the dates they are planning other wise, it wouldn’t be a 2010 title…

@DAMN: 1. The game was not even finished, even in those leaks. We also have not seen official footage of the game, which may have physics different and better than what we have seen through the links.
2. Solaris is just one person. I am sure there will be many, many people who will like the game, even if it is not as close to the classics as you want it to be. Saying that they should hate the game just because how you don’t like the game is immature and biased.

and its not that the physics are not fixed its the direction it is going that it doesnt seem like in the classics and the game is at its near-final build
and even if they made the physics olskool the level designs just suck with boosters everywhere hardly showing any challenge and the way the camera is zoomed in it makes it look like a handheld title it just doesnt seem they’re doing the game and level designs oldskool why didnt sega hire Prope co-operating with Artoon since most of the original sonic team staff are in those dev teams

im an oldskool sonic fan even if i am 15 i was even angry they didn’t put classic sonic in sonic 4(got thrugh that) but the gameplay,physics and level design(boosters,automated springs,spring-to-springs) are unforgivable
