A Tall Order of Patience, All Things Considered
Despite nearly the entire game being leaked in video form for the masses to widely digest a month ago, the calls for more official updates on Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I are growing louder. Today, that prompted a Sega community manager to reassure anxious fans that the promotion schedule is not totally on hold.
“All I can say for now – when things kick back up again, the wait will be worth it,” said RubyEclipse this afternoon on the Sega forums, following a note of thanks for those who have been patient.
The comments are best served upon those who deliberately avoided seeing what the fuss was about earlier in the month, and a small number in that category remains. The results of a TSSZ News@Issue poll published Monday indicate seventeen percent of participants didn’t see any of the leaks.
But such words could be haunting, especially if future reveals show anything the leaks haven’t already disclosed. Though direct viewing of the videos in question have largely been scrubbed off the Internet, the knowledge gained from them remains–including the formats and classic callbacks of zones beyond Splash Hill (mine carts and all), the use of Super Sonic, the structure of E.G.G. Station Zone, and the teaser at the end credits.
A Sega forumer did question RubyEclipse if his comment also covered the content of the leaks.

Sounds pretty interesting. No doubt there will be some of us (e.g.: Dr. Eggfang, Kits’Okami, Damn, etc.) who’ll show disapproval of this recent development, though…

Just more empty promises to try to keep the mob at bay. This is the the same person that teased that Sonic 4 wouldn’t be about speed being given to you effortlessly, then months later videos show dashpads all over the place.
I will only be pleased if the update is a public apology for the mine cart level and how it has been removed from the game.

Im especailly excited for more Music downloads and that Splash Hill Zone gameplay video that they teased us with.
I’ve been avoiding looking at leaks. I’m happier playing the game on my own, with fresh eyes, as the saying goes.
Sonic 4: I Suggesting that Episode 1 is the Prolouge, Then Metal Sonic Apoears in Epi. 2 thru 5. Tails and Knuckles appearing in Epi 2, Then (hopefully) Amy Rose (Since She was in the Original Sonic Games since CD) in Epi. 3, then 4, 5 will be Semi Parts
So We Might get to See The Characters in the Following:

5. Dr. Eggman
6. Metal Sonic
7. All of the Badniks in the Game
I’ve seen very little in the way of leaks…only the first 1:30 video and a few random screenshots a month or two ago. Honestly, I’m not too bothered about the rest right now…though that statement above about a “removed” minecart level does intrigue me…are we really complaining that a part of a game still in development that we weren’t even supposed to know about was cut?
Of course time will reveal all things, time will release the game too!

Oh, and “unpleasable”? You’re referring to a guy who out of all Sonic games hates just 7 (Shadow, Chronicles, Unleashed, Shuffle, 3D Blast, Spinball, 4) and loves/likes/takes or leaves the rest, even the ones no-one else likes (Black Knight, ’06, Labyrinth). Not to mention my love for new characters and storylines.
If you want unpleasable fans, try Stadium or Retro.
Anyway, BoT, SEGA can’t surprise us with this game anymore. We’ve seen everything already.
Um hey, not to seem rude or anything. But given that this is an article about statements that were intended for those who purposefully avoided looking at the leaks, it’s kinda not cool to give a brief rundown of what the leaks revealed. I’m largely okay with it but I am kinda miffed to be spoiled when all I wanted to know is what’s going on.

I cannot wait for this suprise update. Wait a minute, I have been patient this whole time! How can I not wait?
But still, I have something else to say, mainly to Kits’ Okami.
You are acting overly pessimistic about this game. Sure, Sega has their share of faults, but just because they did not make Sonic Unleashed/are not making Sonic 4 the way YOU wanted it to be, does not mean those are/will be bad games overall. It is just your opinion, and why do you even care if you think you won’t like this game? What are you trying to prove by bashing the game just because you do not like the way it looks?
Plus, even though games like Sonic Unleashed and Sonic 4 are not what you would call a good game, and just because Sonic 4 does not look as classic as you want it to be before you saw the game’s second trailer, that does not mean that how it differs from the classics will make the game worse, or in the case of both games, how those games were/are being made in ways you do not like does not mean it will suck because you say so. Heck! You don’t even have to play the game if you don’t want to!
Plus, Sonic 4 was made with the modern Sonic, dash pads, homing attack and all not because Sega wanted to dissapoint the classic fans on purpose or for no reason, but to make the game enjoyable for both new and old fans alike. Just because they are making Sonic 4 because some fans asked for it does not mean they have to make the game in every way you demand for it to be a good game. That is not a requirement for the game to be successful. Sega and Sonic Team have the right to decide how to make this game, and if they want to add some modern elements into the game, then that is their choice, and there is nothing you can do about it. The modern fanbase is just as important as the classic fanbase is to Sega, and the fact that they made the game have levels very similar to past games, and bringing back old badniks is not a bad thing. Remember, this is episode 1 of the game, a prolouge to the episodic series as a whole, and chances are that Sonic Team wanted to begin the episodic series by reusing old level themes (not old levels, mind you. Just because it looks like an old level, does not mean it completely is and plays exactly like it) and badniks so they can bring the newer Sonic fans into this game as they release more episodes.
If Sonic Team wants to do this, even if you don’t like it, than that is okay. You cannot change that.
Plus, there is a difference between watching leaked videos of unfinished builds of the game and playing the actual finished game. Not only is the game not out yet, but those leaks you saw, even if they covered all levels, were still not finished physics wise. Sega may have already made a more recent build with physics more complete than the builds you saw in action. The game’s physics could be complete (which may end up being the case) when the final game comes out, and they could be better than what you saw in those leakes if you give it a chance and play it. You may know how the levels look based on those leaks, but you don’t know how exactly the physics will be or how it plays based on incomplete alpha builds of the game that were leaked.
Also, you don’t even know what the update is, so why are you saying we have seen it all when whatever the update is may actually be new? It could be new, and it’s not like Sonic Team already told you the update and told you to keep it a secret or anything.
But still, you do not have to buy the game, but why moan and complain without point about this game when not only is it not out yet, but you are doing so publically to many who don’t have to put up with pointless nonsense. What are you trying to prove? You may have some disappointment in Sonic Team lately, but not everyone hates Secret Rings, Unleashed and such, and constantly bickering and whining about their efforts isn’t going to do or change anything, for Sonic Team can choose, if they read it, not to listen to it. You can’t control them, you know, and if you want to prove something your whining about what Sonic Team is doing is making you look more foolish than it is getting you anywhere.

I’m going to guess this means you (as in the general total of reviewers) take your opinions more seriously then other game series. Though I never read the reviews of fans of other stories.
