Right Now, It’s the Top Grossing Game
Into us via a news tip from AugieD is some good news regarding the re-release of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 to Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch: It’s selling quite well.
As of the time of this article’s publication, Sonic 2 currently ranks eighth on the App Store’s Top 25 paid apps. There, it’s beating Bejeweled 2, Plants vs. Zombies, and Capcom’s Street Fighter IV, among others.
The news is even better when looking at the current Top 25 Grossing Apps. There, the $5.99 Sonic 2 app sits at #1. Square Enix’s Chaos Rings sits at #3, and Activision’s Call of Duty: World at War Zombies doesn’t even come close at #14.
The mobile edition of Sonic 2, as we’ve previously reported, lacks multiplayer features, and ability to play as Tails.

For those wondering, the paid apps list is based on download numbers, the grossing list is based on how much money the app has gotten based on those download numbers. Higher priced apps tend to get favored on the grossing list while lower priced apps get favored on the paid apps list. To be in the top 10 on both lists in my view is a huge thing for any app store developer that charges for apps.
I got the game, and it plays very well on my new iPad, though I wish I could play as Tails Only…
Hopefull the game will be updated with tails as a playable character! That’s the good thing about apps
I’ve enjoyed Sonic 2 more than the original sonic. Maybe because of the zone variety?
Sonic 2 is the best 2D sonic game (as well as my favorite ever), of course it would sell well.

well i love all of the classics but this is my least favorite here is my list:
1.Sonic 1 (the only 3 things i hate about it is 1.No Super Sonic 2.the game is a little short and 3.No Spindash(actually forget i said this sonic 1 was known as pure and a little more special cuz it didnt have the spindash)
2.Sonic 3&K (i really hate some of the S&K zones though)
3.Sonic CD(with JP/EU soundtrack hate the NA one)
4.Sonic 2

I want them to test something. Chuck Sonic advance 1 the mobile apps store. Would it still sell?
@Danielle well im pretty sure S.Advance 1 would sell quite well though not S.Advance 2 or 3 they suck.S.Advance 1 was the last classic feeling sonic game be it 2D or 3D it had good gameplay almost as good as the classics
