Sonic Stadium, Sonic Retro Become Mouthpieces
Thursday will bring the first official helping of Sonic 4 information in some time, but Sega will use secondary sites to get the word out.
Both fansite Sonic Stadium and research hub Sonic Retro announced the announcement of the coming announcement this morning. Both get the “joint-exclusive,” presumably for their willing purge of the recent leaks off their respective sites–one doing so amid great controversy. But for those expecting something on the level of new screenshots or video, don’t be so sure; the former took great care to spell out the pending announcement would be in the form of a press release. Both releases proclaimed said release would explain the recent media blackout.
The pending announcement is more than likely the community effort previously hinted at by community manager RubyEclipse and Sonic Retro administrator Scarred Sun.
TSSZ News will cover the release as news–as well as community reaction–on Thursday. Thanks to all our news tipsters–too many to mention here–for sending this information into us. If you have news to share, be sure to share it with us by clicking News Tips at the top of every page.

awesome, cant wait
So begins the slide down the slippery slope to bottomless PR pit.
@crysore
@Dr. Eggfang: Slide down to a bottomless pit? A trap? Just because YOU and some others say so?
DON’T EVEN BOTHER TO BE RIDICULOUS!
No matter how many times you say it, or no matter how much you dislike the looks of this game, the game is not going to be a failure just because you say so, and your reasoning is not that effective. So what if this game is not what you expected, or is not how you would want it to be? Many people, despite how strongly feel about this game, would care less of what you think. In fact, I have seen plenty of people happy with what they saw or even what they are getting from this gamem and guess what? Your reasoning for and dislike for what is seen is in the game (and some others) is not going to change their minds, especially if they don’t want to. Like I said, there are many people who like this game and are excited for it, and most of the complaints and bashing of this game are from fans (if they even are fans as they call themselves) who bash this game and flame Sega for how it is made. And many of those same fans are the ones who asked for such a game in the first place!
Such a shame!
People don’t even have to listen to you about your views on this game jusr because of how you think it is not like the classics and such. In fact, They are free to like the game, whether you like it or not! So what if you don’t think this game will be like the classics, or there are other reasons for you to not like the game? That is just you (or those who may agree with you), not the whole world who gets news of this game. Not everyone cares if Sonic 4 is exactly like the classics or not. Heck! Some people, like those who have seen the leaks, or even if they have not, like how this game is looking, playing and such, apart and contrary to what you may think? For that reason, you cannot say that we’re going into slide into some VR bottomless pit just because you say so, or even for reasons you give for such that people can freely disagree to.
Your feelings and thoughts based on you not liking what you see in this game, as well as the others who think the same way you do, do not determine how good this game is. Really! Plus, when many people are excited for this game, and are likely to call your reasons and nitpicking against the game dumb, idiotic, pathetic, even if you don’t care, how can you say that such a thing will happen when many people are actually excited about this game contrary to how you feel and such, and may end up liking the game really well along with others who give it a chance and end up liking it? How can such a thing say so? Just because or your reasons against the game, what you think about it and such? Such foolishness.
You are only kidding yourself here, Eggfang. I don’t honestly care how you think about the game, and many others, to each and their own, would do the same, especially in regards to this game, even if you do not agree with them. That doesn’t make your opinion on this game and your thoughts on it are more right and correct than anyone else, especially when your opinion cannot even be be treated as a fact, regardles of how else agrees with you.
Think whatever you want about this game, but don’t even try to ruin the game for everyone else just because you don’t like it. If you really are a fan of Sonic, and want the series to be successful, you would not come up with petty reasons to bash the series and try to say as if you know everyone would hate it just as you would, or think others should hate it because you do. I am sure you were excited that they were making a 2D Sonic game before it was announced as Project Needlemouse, and even if you weren’t, that is no reason to try to bash the game and not support it just because YOU don’t like how it looks or plays, or how it may not be what you wanted. A real Sonic fan would not bash a game in a series like tthe Sonic franchise just because they don’t like what they see or isn’t what they wanted to be.
A real Sonic fan would hope for the best of this game, even if he or she has reasons not to like it. You can’t just spit on a game just because you don’t like how it plays or looks and use that as a reason to bash it when you especially have not played it yet. Bashing the makers of this game just because it isn’t made the way you want it is childish.
Oh, also; to Kits’ Okami, edge, DAMN and some others I may have forgotten, this comment is aimed towards you too.
That said, I can’t wait for the news on Thursday! I am so excited to see what they reveal!
So much positive. energy here
Another punctuation effort, again.
We should all hold hands and make a circle – we’re getting 2D Sonic here. 8 )
Presumption makes an ass out of you and…oh wait, no, just you, Tristan.
Never got why there is so much Tristan hate. =/ From what I have seen, he hasn’t done anything but report on news and do a pretty decent job at that – I know it’s my favorite Sonic news site by far.
All the others seem to rip on TSSZ like no tomorrow, and he does nothing but shrug it off.
He gets my vote, everyone else just comes off as…ass-ish.
Perhaps they will finally reveal the release date for this anticipated game.
@ Sonication
Dragging people into your comment who have not even written a comment on this thread just makes you look like a hypocrite, F.Y.I I haven’t even been on this or any other Sonic site for a few days because I felt like taking a break from the fans, eventually I came to a conclusion that I reached long ago and refused to acknowledge, that SEGA is just using Sonic as a money making machine and that I should just take what SEGA is feeding me and hope for the best, and then I come back and you wrote that comment, really I think its the fans that are making me hate Sonic 4 so much, thank you, I was going to try to enjoy this game and now it’ll be a little harder to now.
You just put me in your comment stating that I am not a true Sonic fan because I have complained about this game and the decline in quality? Open your eyes, have you noticed how little time has been put in these games lately? One year is a very short amount of time to make a game that would live up to today’s standards, that’s why every game after Heroes has not been as good as they could have been (ironically I loved Shadow, 06, and riders), despite what I’ve heard other people on this site say whom I will not mention the names of because I respect them enough not to call them out, Sonic games have hardly any development time to make them good, Unleashed is a prime example of how a Sonic game would be if the company would take the time to complete them (Ironically I’m praising the development of a game I am not particularly fond of (both versions))
However I do believe that before you start bashing on me you should learn to respect others, normally I don’t bash game developers *but* SEGA’s, Activisions, and a few others really stick out in my mind as they do not care about their fans enough to really read into their comments and understand what they really, really want. Do not give me any of that “Don’t bash developers cuz they took the time to make this!” crap, seriously, hardly anyone at Dimps cares about you, they just want to take SEGA’s orders, twist them to the point of where they can get a game that the little kiddies would like yet still be able to stay within SEGA’s guidelines for success and then they can still make a profit off of this, may I remind you that Sonic 4 was supposed to be made for the fans of the old-school games, why are we getting Rush gameplay, and a bunch of levels copied and pasted onto this? Because they do not care. If the original Sonic Team made this, maybe I would be excited, however, without the original staff I cannot consider this a true sequel
However I am not even going to bother reading your wall of text, the fanbase tires me to no end and I already know that I, DAMN, Eggfang, and all others that really do not care what you think of us that you may have forgotten to mention are going to be bashed repeatedly in your comment, I know I used to be in your position (Go through the archives around late 2008(when I found this site) and around mid 2009)… but then a little game came out called “Sonic and the Black Knight” then I played Mario and Sonic, and then Zero Gravity, and I knew that my beloved childhood hero was dead, my eyes just caught my name in the comment so I just read a little into it, that and I’m too busy listening to the new Avenged Sevenfold song to even care much. Seriously, Mike Portnoy kicked enough ass in Dream Theater and now this? He’ll be taking even more names before long!
@ malady

Yes, Tristain deserves absolutely none of the crap that he gets.
@Edge
And ‘taking legal action’ had no place there, why bother reporting that?
I can have my opinion on which news site reporter I like most, and that will always remain Tristan.

In b4 the release date is announced for next week, just to bring all of the leaked stuff to an end.
@crysore
Much like your posting.
@Sonication
Sorry brah TL;DR
Being serious for a moment, good lord some of you should just send your resumes to Ruby Eclipse and get it done with.
Once again they build up hopes of jaded into thinking that maybe the final game has improved physics and no minecart level only to have them shattered Thursday with just some standard trailers and whatnot, the biggest news out of this really is that Segas got two muzzles ready to strap on.
@edge: Let me point some things out for you that I wish to comment on.
There are plenty of things that you don’t not seem to realize edge, like that though Sonic does make Sega money, Sega still listens to the fans, despite what he said. That is how we got the speed of the daytime levels in Sonic Unleashed, a Shadow game, a classic appearence in levels in Sonic Heroes, and of course, a game that resembles the Adventure series a lot (Sonic 06). He doesn’t seem to realize that, plus some other things.
You also does not seem to know that Sonic games are for everybody, and not just old school fans. You may say this game was for old school fans, but even so, Sega did not have to make the game in every way they wanted it to be. In fact, they also wanted, based on some evidence, to make this game appeal to the modern fans as well, which is not a bad thing. edge does not seem to realize this game does not have to be for the old school fans alone to be successful, and Sega clearly did not want to forget the other fans, and so they added some modern elements to help appeal to those fans, not to just make money, but to show that they care for both modern and classic fans.
Now, you said somethingg about Sonic 4 looking like Sonic Rush, even though they are very, very different. Such foolishness. To me, the look almost nothing alike. You also refuse to acknowledge that the developers have started to put their time into making Sonic games, like they did with Sonic Unleashed. Plus, he said that Sega doesn’t even bother to try to listen to fans about what exactly it is that they want. For one, Sega does not have to do that. They can still make a good game, even if the smallest of exact details the fans wanted are not in that game. Some of such things the fans want from Sega are not even that important to make a good, or even great game. Sonic 4 can be a good game, and by the looks of it, it may be so. Even with some modern elements, it can still be like the classic games and just as enjoyable as them. Sonic 4 did not need to be made in a way what you’d call a “true sequel” to be worthy as a successor of the classics.
Also, you seem to have forgotten that the fanbase itself does not even know what they want from Sega, and yet you still still seem trying to speak for them! How can Dimps, Sega, and Sonic Team rely on the Sonic fanbase when they don’t know what exactly it is they want?
Plus, you fail to realize that there are people like Sonic 06, Shadow, Heroes, Unleashed and such. You don’t seem to like Unleashed, and of course these games I listed had their faults, but still, many people said the daytime levels in that game were a step in the right direction, and have enjoyed or liked Heroes and such, even if that group is not that big. Despite any number of people who may agree with you and the reviews to back them up, it is still the opinion of those that current Sonic games are bad, not fact. Plus, some people try to make those games worse than they may be by criticizing and bashing every fault of the game, even if it is small, like they make the game really, really bad when they actually don’t.
Plus, Sega may try to make a lot of money off of Sonic, but that is how they keep Sonic alive. Though divided, Sonic still has a large fanbase that has people who still play the games, like the new ones that come out. The large number of fans and other non Sonic fans make these games sell well and help Sega continue to make Sonic games. Without these fans, and the non Sonic fans who want to buy the latest games, the sales for the current games would be low, and Sega would not make enough money to keep Sonic alive. But mostly, it has been the fans that have kept Sonic alive by either supporting him, or buying his games. As long as Sonic games are successful, and make money, Sonic will continue to run as a franchise. And bashing and nitpicking about the games will do about nothing to change that.
You can always consider yourself a fan of Sonic’s and love him and his franchise, but even that is different from supporting the franchise or bashing the franchise to no end. There is a big difference there. You can say that you are a fan, but even then, bashing the series, or Sonic 4 just because you do not like how it looks is rather unfaithful and unsupportive for a fan to do.
Oh, and I inculded you in that last post of mine because of your pessimistic, anti Sonic 4 attitude you’ve showed in some past articles.
You may not care about what I say, edge, but no matter, you are still very pessimistic as a Sonic fan, blinded by your own disappoint and negativity, and not able to see why Sega does things the way they do, and too stubborn to accept change in the series.
And you say that your childhood hero, Sonic is dead, just because how you think of the latest Sonic games? Once again…
DON’T BE RIDICULOUS!
Sonic is still a big gaming icon, and there are many fans who still play, or even like the games. Heck, as we speak, people are excited for Sonic 4, and even though you don’t care, your negativity will not change that.
Your disappointment, pessimism and negativity towards for Sonic are far more personal than you think, and does not apply to the rest of the world. Plus, if you don’t like the current Sonic games, why are you still even participating in this fandom and going to Sonic sites such as this.
Whatever you want to think about Sonic, fine; go ahead. I won’t stop you. However, if you must express anything regarding Sonic, don’t treat your opinions and personal stance on Sonic as if they are true, even if many can and will disagree with you for many reasons.
lmfao these walls of text are hilarious, seriously.
Tristan, it’s so easy to hear your contempt that it’s not funny it’s just sad.
Mouthpieces? Wait.. if I’m right, and I think I am, that means..
Mouthpiece, noun,
4. a person, newspaper, etc., that conveys the opinions or sentiments of others; spokesperson.
Oh snap!
Kat: Believe me, given the exclusives I’ve broken in recent months using the old-fashioned method of research, one example of spoon-fed PR posturing that many fans are already questioning the significance of isn’t gonna phase me.
-T
Dont insult me for telling the truth dude.
I would love a Sonic Retro mouthpiece. SR-branded dentures, mouthguards..
Bla bla bla
Sonic HD remix, not Sonic 4. FACT
@ Malady
Well you asked why other’s bashed TSSZnews and I just told you. Because Tristain does stuff like that and doesn’t apologize
Sonic HD, Rush 3, Advance 4. All the same baseless unfunny jokes
Spoiler alert, more PR junk coming this Thursday. Meanwhile, Super Mario Galaxy 2′s embargoes continue to be lifted in this century. Wake me when it’s over Sega.
