Now Where Will We Get Our Leaks?
Sega has tightened up access and control of materials it releases to the press and public by shutting down its domestic media FTP portal.
Previously open for anyone to view, a succinct message on the page now asks users to register for Sega Press, a password protected resource for journalists that has recently been phased in.
For Sega, the transition to more secure practices closes the door on what was occasionally an embarrassing security gap. In 2008, the portal was the source of documents that led to the first unexpected releases concerning Sonic Unleashed. In 2009, another sensitive document surfaced on the public FTP detailing a meeting Sega had with Sony. That meeting included discussion about a Playstation 3 exclusive Sonic compilation with improvements to classic games. A $99 price point was considered for it, according to that document.

Hot scoop!
Perfect! A good move from Sega’s part.
This should keep some things about upcoming hands out of the hands of leakers, somewhat.
Finally. -_- It seriously took this long for Sega to do this?
so that’s what is keep the sonic fanbase a laughing stock of the whole game world? Too late SEGA, 10 years too late.
Our?
This is the best thing for SEGA, of course, but it makes me a little sad to know that the site responsible for the SEGA/Sony minutes leak won’t be so open anymore.
Great, now how will I get high quality pictures and videos without some horrible disgusting watermark?
Life will find a way
@Sonication
Yes let’s celebrate having the only information on a game being from marketing campaigns! This has nothing to do with leakers anyway, it was always the fault of Sega’s staff for putting up content for unannounced titles early not some grand scheme of hacking the gibson.
yay!!!!! NO more annoying spoliers! ^_^
I can`t wait for Sonic 4…….. grrrrrrrrrrrrrr…………. must play it again!!!!!!!!!!!
The people here don’t seem to understand they don’t HAVE to look at the leaks. You are perfectly free to ignore them, in fact.
