A lot of Galaxies, but no Green Hill Representation
There will be a Throwback Galaxy, a Grandmaster Galaxy, and a galaxy dubbed Mario Squared…but come Sunday’s release of Super Mario Galaxy 2 domestically, the power of Sonic appears to be at zero.
A report from Nintendo Everything that cites Prima’s EGuide for the game appears to quash several weeks of speculation that began when the Twitter feed of reputable UK magazine NGamer had teased a Green Hill Galaxy to be included in the game, as well as Sonic himself making an appearance. NGamer kept the rumor going during February’s Nintendo Media Summits, and further reports closer to SMG2′s launch suggested a third character would be playable beyond Mario and Luigi.
As it turns out, Prima’s guide reveals players need to collect 120 regular Power stars and 120 Green stars in order to unlock the end reward. As in Super Mario Galaxy, it’s another playable level, the Grandmaster Galaxy. Nowhere in the Prima strategy does it disclose any appearance of Sonic or anything related to the franchise.
So, however fun it was to speculate, consider this rumor dead.

Guess that mag was just crying for attention. No way would Sega have kept quiet about this anyway if this were true, they would been hyping it up months ago.
Let’s remember something here, folks: DON’T BELIEVE ANYTHING THAT NGAMER MAGAZINE SAYS.
Aww, that’s kinda too bad.
LULZ..
And you guys actully thought it was real?
There goes 5% of the reason why I wanted this game
Did anyone HONESTLY believe this “rumor” anyway? Sheesh… How is this such big news?
