A Couple of Screenshots Included, Too
Over the weekend, Sonic Fusion developer Felik showed off a finished remake of Sonic the Hedgehog 4‘s Splash Hill Zone, to be included in the upcoming SFG.
It is not a 1:1 recreation, according to the developer. The level layout is different, as are the in-game gimmicks. And that Sonic sprite is different, too–intended to fit more with the feel of Fusion.
It was a effort that only took a few weeks of Felik‘s time, aided with a third party effort to rip sprites from the PartnerNET build of Sonic 4. You can see the final results below, and after that in our gallery, you can see a couple screenshots released in the middle of May that preceded the video demonstration. I don’t get it. People are so worried about what SEGA is going to do to make these games “play themselves out” and have “balance issues” and then something like THIS comes up, made by fans, and it’s so amateurish it’s laughable.
Also, the add of BOOSTING just makes this more stupid.
They did a pretty good job, but the way that this game plays makes me want to throw up… that or it could be that I just ate 3 tacos before watching this. Either one.
No. Scripted level design ftl.
I prefer the Sonic 4 level and thats really something coming from me…
See Sonic.
See Sonic Run.
Sonic Runs Fast.
Run Sonic Run.
Everything that shouldnt be in a classic Sonic Game.
Might make for a decent rush game though
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha ha ha ha…. *whew* oh man that was pretty lame, it gives me more appreciation for the REAL Sonic 4.
OMG even Sonic 4 is better than this shit wake me up when Sonic Retro creates the Genesis Edition
Pretty good fg XD
qwote Felik from Sonic Retro
“I ripped decorations from there (bushes flowers etc) But core tiles and BG (except rocks from bg which I ripped by myself) ripped my friend Mefiresu from leaked Sonic 4 version (those one that launches on jtag’ed consoles)”
I was never going to make Splash Hill suitable part of the game. I even worked on it during a pair of weeks.
And I never said that this Splash Hill is better than Sonic 4′s because indeed it’s amateurish.
The only thing I can’t understand is why people think that I’m trying to make Sonic Fusion entirely like classic games. Doesn’t presence of advance sprites say that Sonic Fusion is NOT 100% classic game?
@Felik that and rush 2 physics with a boost
Tsk..It looks fun to me =]
Sonic 4 better be NOTHING like this.
That wasn’t too bad!
@Felik:
You could have at least made it not so on-rails boredom.
@Aaron J
Tell me where did you see on-rails gameplay? Okay Maybe about 1/5 of that level is on-rails but the rest is pure gameplay.
And Sonic 4′s Splash Hill has much more on-rails gameplay. But anyway I agree that I didn’t put too much effort into this. Splash Hill is just an addition nothing more.
Reminds me of Sunset Hill in Sonic Advance 3.
