A Two Part Walkthough & New Details, Inside
GameTrailers have managed to the first direct feed longform look at Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I…the first official video, anyway.
It’s accompanied with a Ken Balough voiceover, and from his words come some new details, particularly when it comes to storyline. Balough makes clear that Sonic 4 is to take place directly after Sonic 3 and Knuckles, and that Eggman will have a “new agenda” in being rid of Sonic once and for all.
Also cited by Balough is the “controversy” surrounding the homing attack’s in-game presence, but he assured that those who have played the game for themselves at E3 have warmed up to it. “It really adds a different tempo to Sonic the Hedgehog 4,” Balough says.
Balough also affirms that Sonic’s acceleration will be tweaked, a response to fan concerns that it takes too long for the hedgehog to reach maximum velocity.
With all this in mind, take a look at the direct feed footage–more than six minutes of it–below. See any changes for the better (or worse?) Nitpick away in our discussion section.

Ugh, that homming attack still makes the bosses WAY to easy
Wait a minute- did he say EACH version has 2 exclusive levels?!
@Crysore
Well, yes, to an extent. In the earliest builds, I remember someone just -pegging- the Eggmobile with consecutive homing attacks without the frustration of even -landing- first. It looks like they made it so that you couldn’t do a barrage of strikes without even so much as touching the ground, which I think is a minor improvement, at least.
They mentioned that each level could be completed without the homing attack – why don’t they just put an option in the menu to turn it off or on depending on your opinions – old school Sonic gamers would opt to turn it off perhaps.
@Dan Wheeler while an option would be nice they still have to remake the level designs(ie:Higher alt routes couldnt be reached without the HA and when you jump off a spring in act 1 of SHZ you have 2 bubbles and you cant get to the higher passage unless you have the HA so thats why they want to make the level designs so that you can complete them and explore them without the HA hope you get what im saying)
When Eggman flips and atacks Sonic you can see in the background the environment “falling” lol AWSOME
, still Sega should lauch Sonic 4 (all episods) in some retail version
It adds a tempo that trashes the genesis style gameplay and makes it Dimps Floaty Playhouse, looks at how floaty it is when he jumps off those vines no control at all!
Sonic 4 will be better than this XBLA Castlevania

Just look at how lazy and unimaginative it is, a real shame for a studio that made some of the best gba and ds around.
>Sonic 4 will be better than X
Never thought I’d hear those words from you Dr. Eggfang. Anyway, I still reserve judgment on that until I play it myself.
