Sega’s Hayes: Up to 24 DC Ports Planned for XBLA/PSN by Next Summer

But Only Dreamcast Titles Planned

In a quick interview CVG held at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, Sega West president Mike Hayes said the company plans to have up to two dozen classic Dreamcast titles for sale via XBOX Live and the Playstation Network by Summer 2011.

“We hope to have somewhere between 18 to 24,” Hayes said, adding that the focus right now is solely on games produced for Sega’s last console.  “With Dreamcast, we want to refocus people on that particular console. We want to make it more of a campaign… Confusing it by putting other [systems] in, we decided probably wouldn’t be the right thing.”

No elaboration was offered regarding what’s in store.  But for the Dreamcast faithful, this is very good news, as it appears the cream of the crop from that era will be available once again for gamers old and new to enjoy.  Thanks to darkclarkson for sending this information to us.  If you have news to share, be sure to share it with us by clicking News Tips at the top of every page.
