Before E3, Sonic 4 had the Edge
As Project Needlemouse, it was touted and hyped to high heaven by Sega’s promotional staff as Sonic’s big comeback. As Sonic the Hedgehog 4, its elements have been analyzed, over-analyzed, leaked, debated, and discussed by all community facets.
But it’s the new 3D kid on the block, the Wii and DS exclusive Sonic Colors announced barely a month ago, that now has a razor thin majority of fan approval over the 2D revival first unveiled in February–if the results of the latest TSSZ News @Issue poll are anything to go by.
More than 1,000 readers participated in the poll–1,056 to be exact, and the results indicate that fifty-one percent of fans believe Colors will be the better Sonic game. Forty-nine percent of readers still cast their vote of confidence in Sonic 4. It was the poll’s closest margin ever, with just 11 votes separating the two categories.
Here’s what makes the final result interesting: before coverage of the Electronic Entertainment Expo flooded the landscape–and before the first footage of Colors was seen by the world–Sonic 4 enjoyed an eight percent advantage over Colors. That lead slowly eroded as E3 rolled on and concluded, with nearly all first impressions for Sonic Colors positive among both press and the community.

Ya I agree I think they well both do good in bringing back the franchise to its former glory. I already heard some old school Sonic fans enjoyed the demo of Sonic 4.
I prefer Colours.
Sonic 4 will be better because sonic colors looks like sonic unleashed, & sonic unleashed was a failure in my opinion.

Sonic colors have te same bad presentation, a boring title with press star, and the boring seggaaa jingle. besides, is really too, too unleashed, i wanna expected more similar to (adventure 2) or something like that.
I kept more onto Sonic 4, you know, (Im a old dinosaur, i like the old shit) )maybe the colors looks cool, but we know how will ending, not playable super sonic against an another epic giant turd monster, with a vocal cheesy soundtrack. i Hope get wrong.

well sonic 4 looks good but i think its going to be suck from sonic 1 thats my point so i will not get the game.
only sonic colors and sonic free riders but i think the new kint waterver is expeniseve or use without it just the controller.

None of these polls are ever anything to go by, ever — they’re based on voluntarily responses.
Call me a pessimist, but I’m calling it right now. Sonic Colors will bomb in reviews just like Unleashed did. I’m willing to put money on it. Sonic 4 won’t, but even Sonic 4 will only score average. As for fans, well, clearly sales have proven that Sonic fans will play and like anything that Sonic’s in regardless of whether it sucks or not. This loyalty is how Sonic games have managed to stay crappy for so long and not dwindle much in sales.
I prefer Sonic colros, is what new Sonic games should be, not boring Sonic genesis style gameplay, that’s why I’m glad they added the homing attack, it will make things more interesting, but I still think colors is looking up better so far.
I think they’ll both be pretty good. I’m actually having a harder time picking now. I originally voted Sonic 4 since I had practically seen of all of Episode 1 and hardly anything of Colors…but the more I see of Colors the more I like it.

You do realzie most if not all of the negative reviews for Unleashed was beacuse of the Werehog and Hubworlds, SC took both of those away so I higly soubt it will get slammed in reviews…at all
As for Sonic 4, I also have hopes that it will get high scores, mostly beacuse your average reviewer dosent care so much about the “physics” as much as the hardocore pessismist fans

I myself am more interested in Sonic 4.
Generally because- even though I liked Unleashed – Sonic Colors seems too much like the Sonic Stages is Sonic Unleashed, which- again even though I liked them- were too fast, and really didn’t require much platforming skill, or even any type of skill, it was really just a bunch of boosting, and running, along with the occasional difficult section that you had to slow down at.
I’m not saying I don’t like the 3D games though; the Sonic Adventure series was great IMO, but if they’re not going to go back to that(which there is pretty much no way) I’d prefer more Genesis type Sonic games(what I mean by that is actually having speed, while still maintaining a good amount of fairly challenging platforming sections, which the rush series didn’t have much of, at least from what I’ve played)
I still think Sonic Colors will be a good and fun game(and will probably do VERY good in sales, especially with the younger fans), it’s just not the one I would pick if I had to choose between them. Though in reality I think that the Sonic Series will eventually just be a bunch of games that use the Sonic gameplay from Unleashed, since Sonic is really for kids, and most kids anymore could care less or even dislike difficulty and platforming(I know most kid’s anymore don’t like actual difficulty since SMG 2 got a bunch of negative reviews for it’s difficulty, though the low difficulty in SMG1t was the reason I never go a Wii, I just play it at my brother in-law’s).

I like both, but I like Sonic Colors more. It feels like Sonic 4 tries to hard to be the games that goes back to Sonics roots and won’t end up bein that good at all in the end. But Sonic Colors dosen’t try to be anything, it’s just Sonic Colors. That’s why I belive that SC will be a more succesfull game.
Sonic Colors is actually trying to be an immature version of Sonic Unleashed. The levels are unrealistic. I think Sonic 4 will be better with it’s good depth and graphics and since it’s for the iphone there is a greater range of audience. The music is better as well.
i like both cause i love both classic sonic games and the new sonic games
sonic colors looks really fun and it has all the good things that unleashed (360 / PS3) had
and sonic 4 had al the good things from the classic sonic games (and homing attack xD)
in my opinion all the fans would be happy cause sega is making sonic 4 for the old-school fans and sonic colors for people who still love actual sonic games

I’m actually not excited about Sonic Colors at all, though that may be due to the fact that both my Wii and DS are broken.
Looking forward to Sonic 4 though.
