Winners Get a Trip to Tokyo
Last year to mark Sonic’s birthday, Sega’s community team was very willing to give fans tons of free stuff without a lot of effort. But this year, you’ll have to work hard to celebrate the hedgehog’s anniversary in style.
For the moment, this appears to be the surprise alluded to earlier this morning though not quite on the level of a giveaway. Instead, it’s a large scale contest encouraging fans to submit video “showing off your love for Sonic” via YouTube, according to the contest page. The YouTube account is a requirement to participate in the contest, which will end at noon Eastern time on Monday, July 12th.
Entries will be judged on a 35 point scale–30 base points awarded on “Creativity,” “Effort,” and “Entertainment” categories, with up to five bonus points awarded if the video promotes Sonic in a public setting. Entrants will be widdled down to 10 finalists at Sega discretion, with those making the cut showed on the official Sonic 4 website. Viewers will vote, and two grand prize winners–one from America and one from the UK–will win a trip to Tokyo and to Sega Japan and Sonic Team offices. They will get some legitimate playtime with Sonic the Hedgehog 4, and according to this video, it will be the finished edition.
Two first place winners get a 32 gigabyte iPod Touch, and 100 other random entrants will get various Sonic merchandise.

I am entering, I have a really good idea too!
I can’t possibly do anything that could hold a candle to what other entrants are bound to do–I lack a camcorder, for starters; I’m physically inept to the nth degree, so anything involving crazy stunts is out; anything involving copyrighted stuff is taboo, so my usual schtick is, too… so yeah, have fun with it.
I just hope someone knowledgeable in the ins and outs of classic gameplay wins, so we and SEGA can get some good feedback/impressions out of this.
I’m going for the win
Up, over, and gone!
I could probabily be a worthy contender for a huge Sonic fan, but don’t know how I would do it without looking stupid…
rahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid i hate my self i just hate my self.
i have no friend to help with me this kind of stuff it will be hard to work alone i give up i just suck at sonic games and every thing.
well sega good luck with the contest i gess im not doing this with out a friend.
hmmm………this actually might be a fun little project >=)

I must say that as a European (I’m Dutch), I feel pretty left out. It’s probably because in the UK and USA, there are native English speakers, I think, but still, give it a thought.. I speak fluently English, and don’t think it’s really fair.
Unless you let those poor Europeans enter the UK catagory, then it would be okay, to me :c
But hey, there probably aren’t enough people in Europe that speak English to make that happen, huh? |:
Ohyeah.
I’m so trying this.
Most likely I won’t make it, or wind up as one of the 100 entrants that wins random Sonic merchandise XD
