Hundreds of Issues, Condensed to a Reference
After much hard work and effort put forth, the complete chronicle of Sonic’s adventures through Archie comics will be released to stores beginning late in September.
Dubbed The Complete Sonic the Hedgehog Comic Book Encyclopedia, the reference will pack hundreds of issues of storyline, characters, and history. Included in the guide is a timeline that better chronicles long lost story arc. The Archie team is also including a world map of Mobius. Ian Flynn is writer on the encyclopedia, with a who’s who of artists handing visual duties, including Patrick Spaziante, who drew the cover you see below.
The Sonic Comic Book Encyclopedia will be on comic book stands late in September, with newsstands to follow in October.

Might be worth getting. I live in the UK, so have missed out on the Archie series and would like to know more about it. I hope it is available somehow over here.
Spaz used to be great back before the redesign but his current work seems to be lacking. It’s a shame to, as I absolutely loved his art style from issues 70 and before
Shoulda got Yardley to do the cover, but I might pick this up if Forbidden Planet gets hold of it. Sounds interesting enough and I really do miss collecting Sonic the Comics.
Spaz’s style is fine, I think it’s mainly the fact that he’s using the SA style shading and line art. It just doesn’t work with him very well, I’ve noticed.
But this sounds like a neat idea. About time they did this, with so much shit that’s happened already and new readers popping up all the time.

It would be interesting to see more information on the world of Sonic, but I hope this will put all debates to rest. I know the comics have nothing to do with the canon Sonic timeline, but it would be nice to know more now and then *hopes that Shadow/Rouge becomes canon and Knuckles/Rouge doesn’t*.

Ditto on the cover…it just seems too open and sparse for a Sonic encyclopedia…I’d rather see dozens of things from the comics entire run interacting. Ah well, I’ll still buy it.
Even though the artwork is pretty good and Archie can come up with pretty good storylines like in Sonic Universe for example, none of this is even official. Oh well.

Only like the Ian Flynn comics, the rest just terribly confuse or befuddle me, and I suppose that’s where an encyclopedia would ome in handy but in truth I just don’t care for anything Pre-Flynn. I’ve read them… didn’t like them too much. Except for when Sonic and Sally broke up in issue 120#-something. Good times. Does that squirrel flirt with with every guy in the series or what?

@ TailstheHedgehog: Really? I thought the Flynn stuff was a little flat actually. Well, to each his/her own! Anyways, yes, Sally does flirt with just about everyone. It’s getting really old…
It seems Sally has a thing for Monkey Kahn now. Doesn’t help that Evil Sonic was big pimpin and broke every girls heart in Sonic’s name.
I haven’t even been able to find this anywhere. Amazon says that they don’t even have it.
