Sega Sammy Head Made At Least $4.5M Last Year

More than Double what Nintendo’s Iwata Makes

Hajime Satomi, the original founder of Sammy Corporation and the current head of Sega Sammy Holdings, made ¥400 million in 2009, or just over $4.5 million in salary, according to a Kotaku report published today.  It may not be all of Satomi’s take home pay, as an Andriasang article quotes the final figure, presumably after perks, at $4.9 million.

That figure is more than double the salary of Nintendo head Satoru Iwata.  Despite the company being much more profitable, Iwata made about $2.1 million after performance parks in 2009, and only makes a base salary of just $770,000 in US dollars.

Sega Sammy Holdings returned to profitability in the last fiscal year, earning nearly $400 million in FY2010.  Still, Satomi’s salary isn’t close to those of some American counterparts, including Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello, who earned over $9.8 million last year after perks, according to Forbes magazine.
