Sega Skipping San Diego Comic Con 2010?

2 Weeks Away, They’re Not on Exhibitors’ List

Post E3, Sega’s support choices for upcoming expos has been questionable at best.  The company did have representation at Dallas’s ScrewAttack Games Convention and at Paris’s Japan Expo, but has passed on GamesCom, the largest games convention  in Europe.

Now, TSSZ News has learned Sega of America may not have the San Diego Comic Con on its radar, either–even though the company had a large presence last year.  The Comic Con is the second largest of its kind in the world, but the latest exhibitors’ list doesn’t list Sega anywhere…and less than two weeks remain to the big show.

Other big names in gaming like Nintendo, Square Enix, Capcom, and Electronic Arts will be on hand.  You may also remember Sega took great advantage of Comic Con last year, publicly demoing Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing for the first time.

Certainly, circumstances can change at the last minute between now and Thursday, July 22nd, the first day of the show.  But if this holds, the decision to stay out of Comic Con is a strange one, but may also be another call based on economics. At least on the other side of the Atlantic, Sega West head Mike Hayes appears to be counting the company’s coins with scrutiny, ousting hopes of continuing new franchises and all.

We’ll update you with anything more we learn on this front.
