Legal Options Are Being Pursued
Archie Comics Managing Editor Mike Pellerito has responded to Ken Penders’s ownership claims to several past components of the Sonic series.
On the Comic Book Resources managed blog Robot 6, Pellerito says talks are underway with the legal team on how to respond.
“We have been in contact with our legal team and the claims by Ken Penders are completely false,” Pellerito told reporter Brigid Alverson. “We will be responding through proper legal channels.”
We said it was going to get ugly fast, and that’s exactly what’s happening. Missing from the melee so far is any official response from Sega–important because many fans wonder how Penders could create a side series using his alleged original characters without potentially infringing on company rights. It’s a complicated legal matter, and we hope to keep you clearly informed on it as best we can as it evolves.

so, as ken spirals down into the flames of self-destruction, i hope he does not bring down archie (and by extension, sega) with him
Futile Penderpass is futile.
Yes, I will be calling Penders “Penderpass” from now on account of him reminding me of Probopass.
Yeah, I wouldn’t let this guy near any of my kids. He just sorta creeps me out now, no offense. The way he is over the matter just… leaves a bad taste in my mouth, I suppose? Yeah, sounds about right.
Anyways, I doubt this will be that ugly. And I doubt it’ll affect Sega and Sonic games much.
