The Most Divided Results in a While
Due to this week’s news cycle, we cut off the latest @Issue poll a bit short. Still, the results show more than a third of respondents don’t feel Sonic fan games will ever reach the same level of quality as official titles.
Out of 641 votes cast, 36 percent voted No. From there, 22 percent voted Yes, and another 22 percent voted Unsure. A fifth of respondents, 20 percent, felt at least some already have reached that level.
The poll was conducted ahead of the 2010 Sonic Amateur Games Expo, the yearly online only event where developers show off their latest demos, concepts, and other fan game work.

Honestly this feels fairly slanted. 22% said yes, while another 20% felt that some had already reached that level, putting the majority at 42%, because they are almost the same question. Dividing those two did nothing but skew the data.
It’s a fair point, one that honestly never crossed my mind.
In hindsight, though, I still feel it was best to separate present from future, which is what the poll options tried to do.

@Viking: It doesn’t really matter. Any volunteer-based poll is subjective to bias, so these polls can’t really say anything, ever, from the way they are currently structured.
Well i played some amezing creations
*Cough* Sonic XG, Retro Sonic, ET:CF, SonicNexus *Cough*
@serpx:
That is a good point.
@Tristan:
It’s no super big deal, but the 4th option didn’t feel too much like a “future” option. Just the wording I guess.
Sonic Nexus, Sonic Retro, SRB2, all great fangames. And I could broaden my range of fangame playing — if I developers would make Mac versions. :/
The only games that I feel did that were Sonic 2 Long Version, and Sonic 2 XL.
Fat Sonic is freaking awesome. I’m not too fond of fangames. Particularly since some people love to put there recolo-I mean, original characters in there.
I rather enjoyed the Sonic XG demo, at least at the same level as the original trilogy.
