This, as Domestic Websites Update
We continue our coverage of the formal unveiling of Sonic 4′s Lost Labyrinth this morning by offering up the combination of twelve screenshots and concept art made available on both the US and UK portal.
Shortly after the Japanese site went live with its own assets, the domestic counterparts shortly revealed what was up their sleeves. The portals now feature the zone’s visuals as a component of the site design. While the Japanese site wasn’t bashful about showing a minecart, the domestic unveiling took great pains to keep it out of the mix, showing off a torch mechanic instead. That torch will likely be the core of act 2 on console editions; We independently and exclusively told you back in May the much maligned mine cart gimmick would shift to the game’s mobile release. Many fans already feel the torch can’t be considered a “gimmick,” or nearly as much of one as the mine cart did.
So, below we have eleven more clean shots–minus one duplicate between the domestic and JP sites–as well as a piece of concept art also released this morning. We’ll continue to bring you developments as they come in. Thanks to the barrage of news tipsters–far too many to mention here–who were on their toes this morning and sent a ton of information in. Finally, another stage, imtired of Splash hill.
lol XD tired before the game is even out
Lost Labyrinth has always looked awesome, I love the background during the boulder rolling segments. The torch looks like a great replacement for the mine cart. IMO it may be a considered a subtle gimmick but you have to remember that S1-3K have had their share of subtle gimmicks too; the ghosts in Sandopolis immediately come to mind. LL has gotten my attention since the leaks and I can’t wait to play it or at least see some official video of it soon!
Everything clashes with the art style of that level epically the cel=-shaded style of the badniks, they look very out of the place.
@Dr.Eggfang
Really? I’m not seeing it, no more so than the HUD anyways.

It looks perfect to me. The only thing that really tugs my goat is that Sonic looks just a tad bit too spritey. And the HUD reminds me of ’06 even though I’ve never really played it.
