Both Confirmed In-Game, TGS Media Inside
Here’s a development out of the 2010 Tokyo Game Show that isn’t just so s-o-g-double-o-d-good, it may also be s-o-a-w-k-w-a-r-d-awkward.
First, Andriasang reports that, as part of a sponsorship with Kentucky Fried Chicken, its founder Colonel Sanders–full name, Harland David Sanders–will be available to play within Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity. The Colonel will be a “partner character,” a protagonist that will join you on quests. Sega will also have KFC related items as part of the PSP2i roster. Thanks to Ethan Kerr for sending that tidbit in.
The second component is one of our own research. Our reporter at the Tokyo Game Show, Danny Russell, reports that Chao, the cute hallmark of the Sonic Adventure era, are also in the game–though not quite as you expect. Danny says they exist as “special enemies,” and work in similar nature to rappies. They appear easy to beat.
There are, unfortunately, no Chao to be found in the eight screenshots Sega of Japan furnished for the TGS, but they’re still good for viewing. Check them out in the gallery below.

… Well.
Ironic timing, really. Yesterday at Games Dev, my mates and I were joking about making the Queen an unlockable character for COD, Tekken, Super Smash Bros etc.
Unless I’m misunderstanding something, Chao have been in Phantasy Star Universe since the first version of the game (though, in the game, they’re called Jaggo).
You can look ‘em up on PSUpedia.
Colonel Sanders…in a video game…WEIRD!
Oh, and that shortening of the title is confusing, as it shares its letters and number with a certain long-rumored handheld game device…
@Stuffgamer1
You obviously haven’t played Dynamite Dux. He’s all over the place in that game.
Played? I’ve never even HEARD of Dynamite Dux.
I thought this about the PSP2 also hahaha.
