Senoue On Board for Set, Two Part Video Inside
For much of Sega’s other fare, like Vanquish and Phantasy Star, Sega used its stage time Sunday to go in-depth on the games, how they’ll play, and all of their new features.
When it came time to show off the new Sonic games, however, Sega broke out into song.
Ripped to YouTube courtesy of Woun is what’s believed to be the complete Sonic portion of Sega’s stage show. Much of it centers around Jun Senoue’s musical talent, as he performs a medley from Sonic 4′s Splash Hill Zone, as well as a theme to Sonic Free Riders, the image theme to Sonic Colors (Reach for the Stars), and more.
There are points, particularly on singing, where the rendition reeks more of karaoke than a full arrangement and where the lyrics “Don’t Fall Apart” tread on irony, but music fans should enjoy it all the same. Those looking for new video will be pleased that the new build of Sonic 4 appears to be on display while Senoue plays. There’s also some new CGI to Sonic Colors.
The two part video is below. Thanks to Woun for sending this in. If you have news to share, be sure to share it with us by clicking News Tips at the top of every page.

LOL…
He makes splash hill some depressing as shit, like something I expect to hear at a funeral home.
This is how you do game music live

I doubt though they could even save Sonic 4′s dull soundtrack without heavily arranging it.
Ouch.
Dr.Eggfang, his rendition wasn’t depressing, it was good and he did a good job of doing it live.
Can you just friggin’ stop hating on crap for the sake of hating? If you don’t like Sonic anymore, you DON’T have to look at his stuff.
I’m liking that redone title screen for sonic 4
in fact, i almost cried
@Tristan Oliver
Hey Tristan, do you think you *and all other reporters from TSSZ* could start posting the time that you uploaded these entries as well =O.
Ummm, what does it matter, KeigoNiwa? Exact time is typically irrelelevant since we’re global, and we don’t region lock.

I wouldn’t say Jun’s re-rendition of Splash Hill was depressing, but neither was it exciting. Jun can compose, but his synth and keyboard performance isn’t as exciting as when he pulls out the guitar.
And Sonic Free Rider’s theme does have potential. If that is the lyrics and if that is the vocalist for the song, I hope the studio version is much better, and I already like the song they used for the trailer as it is.
I can’t stop face-palming.
Sega…what were you thinking?
I think it might just be the camera that’s not picking up the vocals, as many fail to capture effectively. But holy crap, that sounded terrible.
I love how hes like “c’mon! put you r hands up!” and the people do it at first… then almost stop completely as soon as they hear him sing. and he’s just like “WOOOO WOOO!!!!!” through the whole thing! XD
