May be First of Five Proper, Plus Cutscene Skipping Confirmed
Minutes ago, Sega released a new trailer for Sonic Colors, and it’s the first official one with peeks at gameplay.
The opening to the trailer may be a big clue as to how many more we’ll see going forward. It appears four more are on deck, with this being the first.
Unfortunately, much of the gameplay consists of stages we’ve already seen in action before–Tropical Resort and Sweet Mountain. There are, however, more peeks at cutscenes and CG, including Eggman, Orbot, and Cubot.
To complement the trailer, Sega Europe community manager Kevin Eva dished out another seven facts about the game. Only two have greater significance, really. Eva announced achieving in-game S-ranks will be much tougher than in demo builds, and he announced cutscenes will be skippable–something that sounds minor but in fact became a major sticking point for some reviewers.
The trailer is below. Stay with TSSZ News for more Sonic Colors coverage, and don’t forget to take a look at the dozens of screenshots we posted yesterday from the game.

The way they react to cutscenes being skippable is like you could never skip cutscenes in a Sonic game.
Oh sweet. I want this game so bad o.0
Can’t figure out why they keep splicing the music in odd intervals though?

The guy in this interview confirms DS VS. multiplayer. Can’t remember if that’s already been confirmed or not?
“The Wisps have a, rather rude nickname for Dr. Eggman!” Wonder what it could be… Oh and I love the fact that Yacker chirps like the Wisps when you release the capsule. And that Eggman breaks the forth wall like in X.
(In the JP version, anyway)
Extremely A.W.E.S.O.M.E.
Very delicious trailer. Great work Sega it looks like you’ve finally nailed it.
Good luck
Sonic looks so cool in that trailer, cooler than he has done for years.
Funnily enough, I’ve always wanted to see Eggman take a bow like that…
That soundtrack is incredible. I swear I’m gonna be dancing to the tune while I’m playing this game…
ONE MORE TIME!
WHY! this game looks SO Epic and Fun!?!?!
:3 Soooooniiiiiiiiic!
@Sonic the Hedgehog
It’s because he’s so tall. Elegant and sweeping or otherwise exaggerated motions like bows and arm flails (think Unleashed opening) complement his figure. It’s part of the reason Sonic characters have gotten taller, so they can be more expressive. In anime, the group Clamp uses this to great effect, (Card Captor Sakura, xxxHolic, X1999, and Code Geass [most notably the main character Lelouch]). The same principle is applied to anime as a whole in regards to the eyes, the characters having larger than normal.

If anyone has any doubts about Sonic Colours, read this preview, written by “Sonic Stadium” head Dreadknux.
And if you’re still not convinced, then I hope the rock you’re living under comforts you in your blind cynicism.
^Is the link broken? It takes me to an error page
That’s odd. Worked fine earlier.
If possible, could one of the staff delete my last comment? The meaning’s kinda lost without the page.
That’s really odd, actually. I ran a Google search for “25 sonic colors”, and I found a page that takes me to the article just fine…even though it has the same URL apparently o.0
“Major sticking point for some reviewers?” There haven’t been any reviews, only previews, and the only people who have said ANYTHING about the cutscenes are Nintendo Power! And even then, the only issue they had with the cutscenes are the jokes! And the jokes might not even be that bad!
You’re making a mountain out of a molehill, much like I’m making a mountain out of you making a mountain out of a molehill.
@Skai Cyan: you like Sonic…and CLAMP works??
!
you have a new Friend!

I personally don’t see the big deal in skipping cutscenes during your first time playing. The cutscenes are there for a REASON. That’s why they’re there.
You could always skip the cutscenes, only if you’ve watched them already. That was the only real downside to the first Mario Galaxy, since you couldn’t skip any of them even during multiple runs (which is something the 2nd game fixed). It’s been like that with any game I’ve played. Why is ‘not skipping them during the first run’ suddenly a negative point now?
I think that this game will probably have one of the most in-game cinematic cutscenes on the wii (not counting the CG of course)
The framerate loks nice fast and smooth like the 360/PS3 trailers of sonic unleashed!!
(crosses fingers for 35fps or 60fps)
