Standard Response from NYCC Show Floor
TSSZ News has just spoken to Sega’s Aaron Webber regarding yesterday’s big news–details on a 2011 game dubbed Sonic Anniversary.
We explained to Webber the details of the reveal, and the circumstances of it. We even showed Aaron our story from last night on it. But all we could get from him is what you would expect at this point and time from an official outlet.
“Sega does not comment on rumors or speculation,” Webber told us straight.
That’s all we could get out of him regarding the story. A few more details have leaked out today, and we’ll have that available outside the bulletin box shortly.

This was really a predictable answer.
If they answered “yes. this game exists”, then marketing campaign would fail (too much time).
If they answered “no, no game fitting your description”, then marketing campaign would fail (source would, to stay reliable, leak a proto – and what did Sonic 4 proto do to marketing campaign of S4?).
If they answered “no game fitting your description” and they really wouldn’t release such a game, then people would stop believing any rumours, so marketing campaignS would fail (how are hype trains created?).
So, well, what did you expect?
Can’t Hide it now Sega,we know the game exists and is coming out.
That almost confirms it even more than it’s already “confirmed.”
@serpx: Actually, well, I’d rather argue that it does absolutely no change. Ones thinking it’s a rumour may still think so, ones thinking it is a leak will probably stay like that.
I personally think this is partially true. So, of course there will be 20th Anniversary game, it may be primarily for PS3, and may be a rehash/remix or not – especially after that old SCEA footnotes leak, it may actually be everything, as we don’t know whether Sega hurried with Genesis Collection or it was another title than one depicted. Hell, it could even be created especially to make everybody think “Sonic collection” is done.
so predictable…. looks like e3 11 is gonna be there key event to announce the game.
