Includes Clean Footage from Several New Stages, and Metal Sonic
Within the past hour, Sega released a new trailer for Sonic Free Riders.
The more than one minute trailer is a hybrid of clean footage and Kinect demonstration. However, you’ll be able to see bits and pieces of several areas previously unseen or barely seen. That includes Rocky Ridge–minecart and all–as well as a lava stage, an ice stage, and what appears to be a city nightlife stage. You’ll also get a brief peek at Metal Sonic in-game, confirming the blue beast as a playable character.
Sega is really treating this with little fanfare–odd since it’s a Kinect launch title and will be out in two weeks’ time. Check out the video below, and stay with TSSZ News for more Sonic Free Riders coverage and information. Thanks to Woun for sending this in. Sonic riders is horrible, but this actually looks like a good sweat, without horrible controls. I might play this.

No, not odd, because they’re rightfully hesitant about Kinect’s success and don’t want to expend valuable resources on a game that would probably go nowhere.
I don’t expect this to do well. I absolutely LOVED the original Sonic Riders. Then Zero Gravity turned out to be a broken mess, mostly due to the dumbed-down controls. Since Free Riders is on Kinect, they have to dumb down the system EVEN MORE. And it’s only 2 player locally.
Kinect is an absolute joke. What person in their right mind would buy it?
To be honest, I did slightly enjoy the first Riders. It had potential, but it was squandered because of having to find pitstops to refill your air fuel. But then, Sonic Team made Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, the most boring racing game I have ever played. They basically deleted all of the good parts of the first Riders and added shitty gravity gameplay. And don’t even get me started on the storyline (so the Babylon Rouges are aliens now!?).
From the footage I’ve seen, I don’t really know whether or not this is good. It looks fitting for the Kinect add-on, and it definetely doesn’t look boring. However, I’m not looking forward to it:
1. I don’t have an Xbox 360
2. Even if I did have a 360, I don’t want to spend $150 for an add-on, no matter how neat and interesting it is.
3. I don’t want to spend $50 for a party game, much less a Sonic Riders game. I’d wait until the price drops to below thirty before even considering it.

You know, you could also restore air in the original by doing tricks, attacking enemies, taking type shortcuts, and attacking item boxes. Pit stops were the absolute last resort.
Okay, not “attacking” item boxes, just running into them. But you know what I meant.
@Some Guy
Ah, I forgot to even mention that! XD
Usually the pit stops were for people that misused the boost. I don’t mind the pitstops existing. The problem was that there were only few in each stage, and that sometimes forces you to continue running just to find those pitstops. If they had more pitstops in easy to reach places in the stages, then it would definetely be good.
I don’t see Metal Sonic.
Oh, now I see him! At 0:10!
I hope Kinect dies a quick death
I not interested in this one, i dont see chaotix, only wasted space roster used by lame robotnik series of robot e-1000 or something like that.
I dont wanna a kinect either.
I dont see chaotix
Wow… they actually replaced E-10000R with Metal Sonic… awesome…
Now only if they’d replace E-10000G as well.
Actually, E-10000R was made with Metal Sonic’s engine parts, so it makes sense. ^^
Sweet. I like that change.
if it hasnt already been confirmed, I’m pretty sure I seen the blur of shadow in the first two clips!
i c metal!
I Don’t Care For This Game Because The First 2 Sonic Riders Games Was Bad So Why Would I Wast $60 On This Game
OMG!!! I really really really want this so bad right now, METAL is there
yeeeessss!
Metal Sonic is in ? I thought Sega said they were just sticking to the ones from Zero Gravity I guess that means someone from the Chaotix might make in it after all I hope it’s Epsio
Actually they put Vector in as a playable character
