Official Website in the Cards for Thursday
Late Wednesday evening, pelikan13 released the first demo of Sonic Fan Remix to the public for playing. UPDATE: The original link afforded this morning has been removed by file sharing service RapidShare, with a notice the file has been marked as “illegal.” We’re working to confirm if it was Sega who made the claim.
He warned there were some bugs that remained for this release, but couldn’t be fixed in time to meet a self-imposed deadline of this week to get it out. Already the SFG is receiving a great deal of praise among fans, particularly for its ability to be played on somewhat older machines.
Try it out for yourself, and let us know what you think in the comments section. Pelikan13 alluded to an official website for Sonic Fan Remix opening later today, and we’ll update this story once that’s happened.

Very, very beautiful graphics-wise. Prominent frame rate issues, but that can be adjusted with the graphics settings. The only other gripe I have is that Sonic can be a bit finnicky to control, but otherwise….I am impressed.
I tried playing it but it said there needed to be a ‘Sonic Fan Remix_Data’ folder…
So then I made one and tried opening the executable and it says ‘Error: mono: failed to load dll’
Anyone know how to help? I’d love to try this out.
I love the fact you can change the settings to accommodate to older computers… though I dunno if my laptop is crap, but even on the fastest settings and smallest resolution, the framerate is pretty bad and Sonic’s jumps are horribly delayed.
overall I liked it yeah!
It’s nice to feel good physics (but still needs some little work to be perfect) on Sonic.
The game is kinda laggy for laptop users like me but lowering the resolution is the best thing you can do to play decently.
Graphics are impressive but “too much used” I mean, there’re too many objects on the screen (I feel it crodwdy). But they are really worked, that for sure.
The speed is really niiice. Probably sometimes you want more, but if sonic’s at the center of the screen you could hit every enemy on the stage if he’s faster. So yeah, perfect speed, and aceleration
Sonic 4 is better
HORRIBLE fangame with HD graphics
I want play Sonic Nexus again

@Lucas: Is that all you ever do? Blindly praise Sega no matter what even though you just got an infinitely better game than Sonic 4?
And that image is probably one of the bugs/glitches that they talked of ironing out and considering that these aren’t Sega PRs but talented fans, they’ll actually keep their promises instead of making excuses such as “We can’t fix the physics, because we’re too far in development”.
And this is personally one of the games I’ve been waiting for for a long time since Project Needlemouse was announced all the way back in September last year.
This is better than sonic 4?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
If Sega create this.I want pirate, and not pay $15.
@Lucas Hinz Overcompensate much? If you can’t see what is wonderful about this project then maybe you should ask Ruby Eclipse if he has any job openings.
Thinking of the discussion of this one Sega’s boards sickens me to say the least.
The physics in this are absurdly accurate I was able to pull off some of my favorite tricks in Emerald Hill. I hope the community gives this Pelikan1 any support he needs to make a full game out of this.
Just for kicks I searched for Sonic Nexus on Google Images and a bunch of Sonic furry hentai appeared as well.
I am not sure what to think of this, but one thing is certain: there’s a lot of fucking disturbed people playing Sonic these days.
All Objetics and background have mark – this is the big problem of this fangame. The art not have a good visual and distorced graphics.
I don’t like this fangame,not about physics,not about gameplay,not about music.
the ART is a big error. The re-textured badniks and the size is not good, and destroy effect is really basic.
If you compare with another fangame example,Sonic Nexus,Sonic XG etc.
You look how bad this fangame.
The exemplo of Sonic Nexus Clean

Yeah Lucas, what the fuck is wrong with you, seriously?
Some news ago you were saying that people comparing this game to Sonic 4 are retards, now what exactly are you doing? Comparing.
And yeah, for a fangame made by two people who are not being paid anything for their work, this is really fucking impressive. Maybe if you weren’t such an obtuse fanboy you’d be able to get this through your thick skull.
Look at that big floating robot at the background and seriously tell me if there’s ANYTHING that’s remotley as creative in Sonic 4. I fucking dare you give me an example.
And as I explained to you some time ago, they get mythology of the game better than Sonic Team does. I won’t repeat myself here so here’s the link to the answers I already gave you:

XD silly furries, masturbating is for the weak minded and immature peoples, like me and everyone else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MuHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! … sorry just kinda tweaked out because of waiting for sonic colors. XD
“Some news ago you were saying that people comparing this game to Sonic 4 are retards, now what exactly are you doing? Comparing.”
WAIT.
I compare with other fangames lololol
I love troll?
@Lucas
umm
How can you even try to say the graphics aren’t good in Fan Remix, es
Oh yeah and lolSegasucksFanRemixrules. But really, I love Sonic 4 although Fan Remix is miles ahead of it.
Edit fix:
How can you even try to say the graphics aren’t good in Fan Remix, especially when it looks to have so much more love and quality put into it than Dimps’ creation?
Also, what’s the difference between Nexus and Fan Remix? They technically have the same gameplay and art style. The only difference is that the game is 2.5D instead of 2D.
This game is pretty awesome! I tested it and i have to say: Once finished, this can stand right next to the official ones! Graphics amazing, game play has almost no bugs, animations almost perfect (there are ones that are buggy, like the stop, look up, etc, but a minor work on them and they will be fine), sound is enjoyable and fits the game (although there are loudness issues, like when you kill a badnick). But, there is a issue that i, and nobody can stand, and thats what i think will make this game “bad”: Frame rate issues. I own a i5 750 @ 4.2 Ghz, and a ATI HD5870, and the game keeps shuttering (jumping some frames every second) making the image not fluid. Even with the lowest settings the game has this problem. I don’t think it’s my system, as i’m “pretty sure” it can run this game with no problems at all at it’s max settings =p. Vsync Option would help and be totally welcome to the settings menu, but even with forced vsync (With D3Doverride) the game keeps shuttering. Once the jumpy frames are fixed and the other issues solved this game will be for SURE one of my favorites. When will Sega call those guys to hire them? Keep up the good work guys, don’t leave this project hanging! Only “some” issues to solve, and a lot of levels to create and thats all!
Trolls love attention, ignore the idiot. Can’t wait to play this Demo Thx
humpf
Thesega was afraid and pulled the file from the air ..
and what the problem sega?
afraid because two people have done the job that im 2 teams of 2 companies?
ridiculous
also deleted my posts in the forum of the sega forum where people were sending your opinion on sonic 4 sonic fan without mentioning remix.
this is the company that says listen to feedback from fans?
censoring their creativity?
I am really very disappointed with the attitude of the sega
this game should serve as a stimulus to Sonic Team and Dimps to develop something better and show who’s boss.
but rather do that censoring the game.
ridiculous
Apparently the link is down?
Wow! Just wow! It´s amazing! There´s some things to improve here and there, but this fan game just looks official!!
Let´s hope they keep improving it so we can play I glorious classic Sonic game.

Don’t even bother with Lucas, he can’t even write an sentence properply, LOLOLO-TROLL
When my Internet stops being such an cruel bitch, I will let you know what I think.
The harvest is no longer a joke nor ears to hear haters.
The sega tries to put up their initial sonic 4 after 12 years and receives insults?
Here it is the change of harvest, and well paid indeed.
Remember: Sonic 4 is good by default!
Anyway, how big is this file, I already downloaded 75mb but there was no end in sign before my internet crushed..
@JohnSeed That is unfortunate. The entire file I think is about 96MB so you weren’t far off. Really not that big at all, and really worth it. I’ve played through it about 4 or 5 times and it’s still great
Better than Sonic 4 though? I’m not so sure but its a close one to call if nothing else.
Eh, it’s okay. The graphics are simply lovely, though it’s kinda hard to see Sonic at times. Pretty graphics aside, however, it’s just an improved version of Sonic 2, stuff I’m seen before. I’m aware that’s the whole point of this fangame, but still…
but is dosen’t work
It’s just sonic 2, in 2.5d but Sonic 2… *facepalm*
I won’t be surprised if Sega just removed the fangame just because they know it is in some ways (such as physics) a whole lot better than Sonic 4: Episode 1, especially considering the fact that the game was made by two people, and that Sonic 4 was made the ACTUAL Sonic Team and Dimps combined.
@GMAN
If you have a old game to base (created by Sega by the way) even a monkey can program a fan game like this. Guys, it’s just Sonic 2.
Or it is the game so that all Sonic fan Base wants? Sonic 2 remake?
Shame on You.
