With it, a Dozen New Screenshots, Artwork & A Trailer
Today in Japan, the official portal for Sonic Free Riders received a media makeover.
With it, many new pieces of media were released, and courtesy of Russian Sonic scener Woun, they are available in the clear for mass consumption. Among the assets is a three minute trailer which might as well be out of the Mr. Sparkle playbook. But you’ll see some of Rocky Ridge in action, including that mine cart, as well as how the tag team “date” mode works.
In addition, we have some more artwork and screenshots courtesy of Woun’s rip–6 of Rocky Ridge, and 6 of Dolphin Resort. Those are in the gallery, following the 3 minute trailer. Thanks to Woun for ripping and tipping as he always does. If you have news to share, be sure to share it with us by clicking News Tips at the top of every page.

At first I didn’t want this game & now I do
“Synchro play” looks really fun.
Too bad kinect costs almost as much as the console itself…
Lucas : Yeah that’s the downfall for it but I’m planing to get Free Riders first then the next month I’ll get the Kinect along with the new 360
minecarts?!?
*rages and complains on the internet*
This plus the Dance Dance Revolution that supposed to be on Kinect, just one more game and then i might consider getting the Kinect =O
O.o did i see Metal Sonic at 26-30???
awesome. but im not buying this.
looks cool tho. especially synchro play.
“COOOOOOOOOOOL!”
Nah, can be fun, but I expect a 360 game to look better than a Wii one. Also, with Kinect I would prefer 1:1 motion and not movements that could work as well on a normal controller. Looks pretty bad overall, but the fun concept is still there… hmm.. nope, I’ll get the next big Sonic game for 2011 instead.
Sonic colours looks great, but I don’t have the console for it anymore.
I’m loving the Sonic and Amy pictures ; )
Well, now I have a real idea of how this plays. It’s still not worth it. And not because I’d have to buy a console I don’t want and an expensive peripheral that seems like it will die pretty soon.
Because this game is on Kinect, the gameplay is even more dumbed down that it was in Zero Gravity. And that’s saying A LOT, because Zero Gravity cut out pretty much everything that made the original Sonic Riders amazing.
In Free Riders, there are only two vehicle types, tricks are still based solely on jump strength, you can’t run out of air and run, you can’t attack without a powerup, and most importantly, THE TRACKS ARE STRAIGHT LINES. There’s only the occasional turn here or there, but there are so many straightaways in this game, making the tracks dull and boring. Most likely, the type shortcuts are even more useless than they were in Zero Gravity.
Great music, though, as always for the Sonic franchise.
I really like the music background
