A Total of Nearly 25 Minutes of Gameplay Inside
It is now day 2 of Sonic Free Riders‘s release, as is the case for the peripheral required to play it, Microsoft’s Kinect for XBOX 360. But Europeans have to wait until next week for purchase. For them–and for those domestically still on the fence, this lengthy feature totaling two videos should help you make a decision.
The first is from GameTrailers, ripped to YouTube and tipped to us by Woun of the Russian Sonic Scene. The video, about two minutes, is a hodgepodge of both solo and multiplayer elements from the game. As was stated in their formal review, you can tell the player is having trouble controlling.
Those problems are even more evident in the more than 22 minute demo of SFR by Giant Bomb–including, we think, founder Jeff Gerstmann. There’s a fair bit of time and frustration spent in the tutorial stage with him learning to jump, and it gets no better during the actual racing. It is a raw look taken from Giant Bomb’s all day playtest of Kinect Thursday, and may serve as the deepest, direct insight into the game yet, as you can hear all staff reactions and learn what they are and aren’t doing well as the controller.
So, if you have some time to sit down and take a look, the videos are below. Again, credit goes to Woun for Youtubing the first video, and for Dr. Eggfang for providing the Giant Bomb link in a previous comment. The jumping thing looks like it was all his bad timing. xD
Okay, all of the games problems can be summed up by the guy playing. It’s all player error.

This is worth the triple post.
@RaveToTheGrave
He played this before this and had the same issues, he jumped when the game said jump and it didn’t work countless times until he used a specific stance that it never suggested that’s a design failure
He was playing exactly how the game instructed him and he has still crashing into walls.
Here is the really shitty thing Jeff played this with Sega PR on hand a month or so ago, if he had any problem with the controls they should and helped him and they
clearly didn’t just like the piss poor tutorial has.
Also why is that video worth, it? It’s another worthless preview devoid of any real opinions. Are you trying to cling onto hope that this isn’t broken control wise despite many reviews making it clear?
I noticed he jumps when he says jump, but the red bar looks like an indicator, I guess he needed that.
japanese voices sounds better.
Looked like the player’s fault. :/
Can’t blame the Kinect if the player doesn’t put much effort, also he isn’t enjoying the game which makes it look like he doesn’t really want to play it, tho it’s funny to see how he fails at the tutorials. All is bad player input, that video shows bad timing, and not putting a single bit of effort.
