Included: First Excerpts from Cash Cash Concert, “Reach for the Stars”
Found on YouTube tonight was what we believe to be the first video to surface from Thursday evening’s Sonic Colors event at Citi Pond in Bryant Park, New York City.
It’s from a user only known as TrippyFeline. She and her friends made the trek in the cold rain to Manhattan, and they were welcomed with an array of events. Despite the rain, there were plenty of ice skaters, with Sonic hats in tow. We also understand some Sonic themed white gloves were handed out. In addition to the plenty of kiosks set up for gameplay, you’ll also get a glimpse of Sonic riding a zamboni. For real.
But for most of you, the real fun will begin at the 2 minute mark, when the Cash Cash portion of the video begins. This was more a lengthy concert than just a few songs and covers, and it eventually included Sonic Colors image theme Reach for the Stars, a portion of which begins at the 3:23 mark. You can see that a ton of people took video of the performance with their iPhones and other portable devices, so we suspect a complete version will surface later this morning.
But we at least have a portion for you review–to at least get a feel for what it was like for those in attendance–below.

Wow….. If Sega ever releases a 360/PS3 ver. I don’t think it will TOP this…. Oh wait, Sega knows it’ll SUCK.

Well, at least the people in NYC were treated to something better than what was given at TGS. I’ll have to wait twelve more days to get my Sonic hat.
They treat Reach for the Stars like an absolute joke. Dinky keyboards and half-assed vocals? I’m glad the actual version of the song isn’t that awful. Say what you want about “auto-tuned vocals”, but they sound infinitely better than every live rendition of this I’ve ever seen.
Terrible singing, wow. My cat can sing better, with its ass.
All of you guys can be quiet about the singing :p They’re not taking it seriously enough anyways. Besides, this IS a Sonic event.
No wonder the SEGA Sound Team autotuned the vocals and put so many effects into the song. The live version is complete shit! XD

Sega actually did show the new trailer at Bryant Park, though, you could have easily passed it by because everyone was bouncing to the music XD.
Basically it focused on the DS version of the game and its exclusive wisps.
Still though, i want it to surface to youtube so i can actually HEAR what song played =O
I actually think they made Reach for the Stars sound like that purposely.
It kinda reminds me of the musical style of old Sonic games.
