Sonic Adventure 4th in Top Downloads
Sega has sealed one major victory in the face of much criticism against Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I.
In the PULSE video blog published on the US Playstation blog, Sonic 4 sits alone as the top selling title on the Playstation 3′s Playstation Network for the whole of October, despite being released during the middle of the month on October 12th. The game beat some very formidable competition, including Deadliest Warrior: The Game, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Castle Crashers, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and, as it turns out, Sonic Adventure. The Dreamcast re-release was fourth in top downloads for the month.
No specific numbers for either game were disclosed.
Now the focus shifts to XBOX Live Arcade and how Sonic 4 fared there, and then to both consoles to see if the top ranks can sustain an extended period. We’ll bring you the stats once made available.

“Hey, let’s take money out Sonic 4′s budget and use it to improve upon Sonic Colors and Free Riders!”
“But then Sonic 4 won’t be good. We’ve already got complaints about the model, physics, etc. from the leaks”
“Don’t worry, let’s just delay the game, replace the gimmick levels, and spend the other 3/4 of the budget into overhyping this as ‘the game fans have waited 16 years for’. That way, sales will go off the charts!
“Good thinking, sir”

This is very good news indeed. If the original games were the top selling when they were released sonic 4 should atleast be the top selling downloaded title.
I think it’s especially surprising since the game was $15
Why does it say “Sonic Adventure 4th” ? You meant Sonic’s 4th adventure, or Sonic the Hedgehog 4th?

@Miguel: The game “Sonic Adventure” is in 4th place.

Yes all that matters is how a game sells and not it’s actual quality. Might as well make Episode 2 a $15 interactive screensaver.
awesome!
also because it was a simple £10
Well, I guess I don’t have to worry about Episode 2 being canceled.
This better give SEGA incentive to make Sonic 4: Episode 2 feel somewhat like the classics. I enjoyed Episode 1, but it definitely wasn’t as good as it could’ve been… SHOULD’VE been. High sales may convince them to step it up. On the flip-side, however, this may give SEGA reason to believe that fans will happily eat Sonic 4, no matter how bad it is, and make the 2nd episode even worse. Possibilities, possibilities…
