Revealed: Sonic Colors’s Final Boss

For the first time in a while, the final boss Sonic will face in a 3D title will be…Eggman.

The evil doctor will utilize the Egg Nega Wisp to try and defeat Sonic once and for all in the presumed final boss stage of Sonic Colors.  The contraption takes an array of Wisp power and uses it for evil.  Sonic must avoid damaging obstacles in an endless foot race not unlike what’s seen in many of Sonic Unleashed‘s boss areas.  And as has been the case with many final bosses in previous 3D Sonics, it gets progressively difficult as more damage is dealt, but a haunting orchestral rendition of Reach for the Stars will accompany your clash between good and evil.  You’ll know you’ll have won when you’re able to access “Unlimited Colors,” and Eggman, so says those who have cheekily dubbed the crushing blow, tastes the rainbow.

How do we know all this?  Scener Dusk Golem legally purchased a copy of the game Monday as part of some early releases in North America, and has uploaded a playthrough of this to Youtube.  The five and a half minute battle can be watched below.  The jury’s still out on whether this boss changes any if and when Super Sonic is unlocked via the Sonic Simulator.
