Warning: A Tough Read for Those Not Well Versed in Japanese
While a lot of the domestic community teams have called it a year, the team behind the official Japanese Sonic portal today published a lengthy interview with the gang behind the magnificent music of Sonic Colors.
The Q&A includes a chat with composer Tomoya Ohtani, and sound producer Kenichi Tokoi. It can be seen via a rough translation here, but you’ll get a lot of Engrish. We’ll try to get a better translation for your review shortly, but in no certain terms, the Q&A details the inner workings of how the tunes for Sonic Colors were produced, including time spent with Cash Cash for the image themes and a full orchestra for other tracks–as well as why the official soundtrack is called Vivid Sound x Hybrid Colors in the first place. There’s also insight into the process on converting what was an already eclectic soundtrack into an 8 bit format for Game Land.
The timing of the interview is no doubt deliberate; today marked the release of the Sonic Colors OST in Japan. You can place your orders for it now through our merchant partner CDJapan.
