Kuta Prepping Preview; Mr. Lebron Goes to Washington
We’re combining developments on both prominent Sonic fan films into one story today.
We start with Richard Kuta’s film, which observers will see in motion for the first time next month. A small teaser trailer was released Monday to mark the moment. It will be 30 seconds in length, and in comments made on Sonic Retro’s forums late last week, he’s hoping it can drum up enough interest to finance the full feature, while keeping immediate expectations down to earth:
Realistically, the best I can do is just get a 30 second scene completed. The full movie doesn’t seem possible considering how expensive it is, especially for the type of animation we’re using. But hey, if the scene drums up enough positive interest, perhaps that can lead into something good. I don’t know. All Im doing right now, is just taking it one step at a time.
While Kuta prepares for next month, Eddie Lebron is preparing for next week when he’ll be appearing at a panel at MAGfest, taking place in the Washington, DC suburb of Alexandria, Virginia from the 13th through 16th. On his most recent video blog, Lebron dubbed the panel the most extensive he’ll get about the movie until its release, with plot points, CG model renders, and a one minute teaser trailer that will make its debut at the gaming convention. The panel will take place Saturday, January 15th at 4PM local time. That morning, Lebron will also perform a live commentary of his Mega Man fan film with respective producers present.
That’s what you need to know about both fan films for now. We’ll have more as it’s made available.
