West Prez Joins Fans in Holding High Hopes

Fans wait with anticipation and high expectations for Sonic’s 20th year in gaming, and the man who likely knows all we’re about to see in the coming year is in many respects right with them.

In what may be his oddest choice of words since typecasting Sonic Colors’s demographics, Sega West president Mike Hayes in speaking to UK trade MCV afforded his thoughts among other industry names talking about hopes for 2011.

“I want 2011 to be a great year for a little blue hedgehog,” Hayes said, “as Sonic is 20 years old in June.”

Noteworthy is how this is a “want,” not a promise.  That’s somewhat important because this is the man who’s supposed to know what’s in store for all of us.  That he remains coy on anniversary plans and releases suggests either we’re in for something huge…or…
