Judge Puts Off All Decisions, Concerned about Jurisdiction
US District Judge Susan Illston did not rule today on any of Sony’s motions to inhibit the distribution and spread of the PS3 Jailbreak keys, including an order of impoundment and a temporary restraining order; this according to Wired.com.
The 20 minute hearing, held this morning in California, ended with her decision to rule on the matter at a later date. Illston considered whether the complaint should have been filed in New Jersey, where co-defendant George Hotz resides. He and others are accused by Sony of violating copyright law and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act by releasing keys that, in theory, allow homebrew and pirated software to run on the Playstation 3.
While no ruling was made in either party’s favor today, delays like this in some cases tend to result in the matter being dismissed in whole or in part, so the defendants have to be feeling good right now. So, for the moment, all remains as it was before Sony filed suit, and if and when a significant ruling is rendered we will pass that along.

Didn’t Apple try to sue Geohot and lose?
And in the process make jailbreaking iphones legal?
I bet you anything history is gonna repeat itself.
Yes I think that was true if my memory is right. Apple could only hit people with void of warranty if you jail breaked your I-Phone. I hope the whole case does get dismissed. What is sooo so wrong with running LINUX or any other OS on your PS3??? God companies need to get over themselves for once!
