Charles Hamwey Goes Well Beyond the 16-Bit Era for Inspiration
It’s almost a constant these days: Veteran fans want a return to the classics. That 3D recreation of Mushroom Hill Zone last year appeased a lot of them, but what if the idea of a classic went far, far the other way?
In all likelihood, you’d get what’s below. Released earlier in the month and picked up by both Segabits and GoNintendo, the 1 minute short is reserved only for the truest nostalgia enthusiasts. It is the work of Charles Hamwey, and according to a Tumblr post he made about the cartoon, it was made, in all things, on an iPad, using Animation Creator HD and a certain Steamboat Willie as inspiration:
It was a simple fun idea I had while playing the game epic mickey actually. I wanted to make it fast and actually get it done. Thats why I choose to animate the cartoon on an ipad. The reason for that was to limit myself and actual make something I would eventually finish. Although the ipad is not the limiting part, its the program I used on it and what it could handle.
So, get out those flappers, start doing the Charleston, and Save a Little Dram for us while you enjoy the video below.

This needs to be the latest new Sonic cartoon series!
That’s awesome in so many ways. I’m definitely showing it to all my friends,
Now as a concept for a black and white Sonic miniseries, I approve. I’d love to see more of this type of stuff, except with a little less Flash dependency.
That was quite the show there.
Haha! That was awesome!
lol that was great and horrible at the same time!!

Kudos to your creation ahhh what it was to be a kid back then. No worries no headaches….NO STRESS LOL. Just a simple life LOL. Reminds me of those old PopEye cartoons in black and white. Absolutely loved it!
Sonic 0 anyone?
