And With Just Six Weeks On Sale
Just as it did in Spain, the portable edition of Sonic Colors made a run for top while on sale during the Holidays in the United States, so says the NPD Group.
A report by Gamasutra reveals Colors for the DS was the 9th best selling new title for the platform for all of 2010 in the market. This, despite only being on sale in the last six weeks of the year. Pokémon: SoulSilver and HeartGold took the #1 and #2 spots respectively. Released in March, they were the only two to crack 1 million units sold a piece.
Faced with stiff competition on Wii like Donkey Kong Country Returns and Epic Mickey during the Holidays, the Wii edition did not fare as well, not breaking the top 10 for the year. Based on the top 10, the Gamasutra article suggests that Colors on Wii could not crack the half a million mark in sales during 2010, but keep in mind this only references the United States.

Hey, maybe I should jump online on my DS copy, I didn’t think it did that well. Good job Sega.
A bit sad, considering how phenomenally superior the Wii version is.
“Colors on Wii could not crack the half a million mark in sales during 2010″
The nerve of some people…
^ I Lol’d at that
One of the main problems with Colors’ release was that there wasn’t a long enough timespan between it and Sonic 4, so some people would’ve skipped Colors and just went with Sonic 4. Very bad marketing strategy, to be honest.
Colours DS is a freaking awesome game, but it’s a little short, I was hoping for playable Super Sonic and the final boss was lame.
You talking secret or final boss? Because the final boss (the Nega Wisp) was awesome, I thought.
The secret final boss. It was just…. ugh, why was it there!
During the entire game there was no mention of this ‘mother wisp’, and suddenly there’s your only reason to play as Super Sonic. I would’ve gladly gotten rid of that final boss to play as Super Sonic in regular stages.
