Yes, Virginia, There is a Sonic #226 Cover
With the American International Toy Fair wrapping up tomorrow in New York City, there has been a plentiful Sonic presence on the show floor, with the hedgehog celebrating his 20th anniversary this year.
The website Figures.com was in attendance, and snapped a boatload of shots showcasing Sonic swag. You can see the full list here; we’ve provided a small sampling in the gallery below. There’s everything from figurine/combo packs (including what we now know to be the cover to Archie’s issue 226), stuff animals, peeks at Sonic and friends through time, and even a pair of Sonic headphones. What you may also notice is that there what looks to be a lot of placeholder art instead of actual figures in some of the packaging. It appears much more works needs to be done, including Sega’s approval, before we get a true taste of 20th anniversary figures.

“Do Not Photograph”.
Whoops.
i know this is unrelated, but does anyone lnow when sega’s press event is? hopefully, we get some info on the new sonics there.
@sonikdude101 oh yeah, i read about that on the sonic stadium. apparantly its supposed to be in a few weeks. i would estimate either late feb. or early march. probably march, since that was when SU was announced back in 2008.
Well, we get a clearer look at StH #226 which definitely seems reminiscent of the original genesis box art. I’m actually glad they’re re-packaging some of the characters with badniks because it will be a good opportunity to get a few of the 3.5″ figs I still haven’t bought yet. Speaking of re-packaging, I think instead of doing a Espio/Knuckles 2-pack, they should have saved those two slots for a couple of other Chaotix members that haven’t been released yet like Mighty, Ray, or Charmy (although, who honestly cares about Charmy, lol).
Sonic TV Image 4kids? eyes hmm.
Huh… You know, I’m don’t know but I think we’ve never seen those CG models of those retro Badniks before….
Hints to what may come this year…?
@Greg The Cat
I said this before for another article, I was thinking that the label “Sonic through Time” could be a title with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy going back in time and teaming up with their bulgier selves. And Dr. Eggman goes back in time and tells his young(er) counterpart some evil plans. I don’t know why I’m getting so deep into this if SEGA crushes all my hope if it’s not 20th. (aka 99.9%)
SEGA DIDN’T CRUSH MY HOPES AND DREAMS. OMIGOD.
