A Summer Concert Now Likely
The still evolving disaster in Japan and its effects have forced the hand of Crush 40. The band delayed a planned concert in Tokyo scheduled two weeks from now.
In a statement posted on the concert page, the band expresses “sincere sympathy” for those impacted by the earthquake and tsunami sustained in Japan’s northeast a week ago today. They apologized and thanked customers who purchased tickets for their understanding.
The Sonic Stadium’s T-Bird has been in touch with both band members Jun Senoue and Johnny Gioeli, who also confirm a gig in Osaka has been postponed due to the disaster. Both believe, given the magnitude of the disaster, that the decision was appropriate.
No new dates have been set for the Crush 40 concert, but the band is looking toward the summertime for a possible rescheduling.
TSSZ News’s Japan based correspondent Danny Russell was to attend the show in April. Once new concert dates are set in stone, we will determine the viability of covering this event.

Damm! this year was promising because a lot of projects from part of Sega and the other companies and cause that dissaster all is being cancelled. Their safety comes first of course, but mother nature is a *****! It’s not fair god, this is not fair….
@SoniKKoaS: How is God is not being fair? This is Earth, bad things are going to happen all the time, that’s the world we live in. You think you have it bad? How about all the people in Japan that have lost family members, have no place to go, and are not even sure there gonna get a scrap of food today. I’m really not trying to be rude, but you really need to stop thinking about yourself, and really think about what “fair” means.
Dude, if you read my coment in one line i said ”Their safety comes first of course”. Of course i think on them, and im angry because they are suffering the horrible consecuences that caused this catastrofe, i can wait all the time necesary to play a New Sonic. Im just showing my anger to what happened to japanese people because is not fair. But as you said, Earth is like this:(
Think about this, Why wait for new games or events if there’s no japanese people who can provide those things? i hope they recover from that crisis very soon. and please, dont take me wrong because my first coment, im pissed and worried of the situation in Japan.
If i sounded like a dick, i apologize. I had no right to call you selfish, it’s really nothing personal. I get what you’re saying though, i know, it sucks but hey, it’s not under our control. Anyways, i woulden’t worry, this probably won’t SEGA’s plans for Sonic in the long run.
*affect*
Call me selfish if you want, but I know I’m not the only person who’s thinking this, and just being honest … this SUCKS in regards to Sonic’s anniversary, and I hope it doesn’t affect the games much. This doesn’t mean I don’t care for their lives and all that, yeah I have great remorse for them, but I’m not going to hide my thoughts cause its “not right.” Eff you guys, this sucks. My interests are also in the games, aside from those people’s lives, call me a dick, deal with it.
I hope everything and all survivors in Japan will be alright. Sure, I’m disappointed because this means less anime/manga/games/Sonic, but human lives were lost.
On the issue of Crush 40, their live performances are kind of weak, but I will give them this: they sure are a hell of a lot better than the guy that performed the songs of Sonic Colors and Free Riders last year. Can’t believe I stayed up till 3-4 in the morning for that….I want those hours back. Only good thing from that performance was Jun Senoue’s awesome on the Sonic 4 themes.
……should I feel bad that one of my favorite movies is “Gamera 2: Rise of Legion” where Sendai was demolished in a huge explosion? Seeing as how Sendai really is trashed right now? ^^;
That’s saddening
Then I guess the same can be possibly said for the upcoming Sonic announcements as well. At this point, I think its safe to say that nothing will be planned, or announced Sonic related, until mid to late May at the absolute earliest.
Blu: I’m beginning to believe what you just said. I’m not sure anything Sonic related will be announced until Sega Japan gets its house in order and even though they’re in Tokyo, that could still take weeks given the magnitude of the disaster and some radiation fears.
Given the onslaught of game announcements Sega has made the past week, however, I would love to be proven wrong.

Open your hearth, its gonna be alright!!!…….
That earthquake ruined us all in the worst moment possible, thats for sure. To japanese people and us. No mangas, no animes, no videogames, no japanese homes, no japanese lives. Im feeling angry and sadness at the same time. Goodbye Sonic promising anniversary and im really sorry for the japanese people:(
Come to U.S. and U.K. to raise money for Japan
Stupid mother nature. Aw well, it’s not like I could have gone to it. Is it too much for Crush 40 to do a States tour?
First this, and now i’m banned from the SEGA forums.
>Concert moved to Summertime
>Summertime
Yep, that confirms Crush 40 for Summer of Sonic.
