Videogame music hub tackles Sonic 1 remix album

First, there was Hedgehog Heaven. Then there was Project Chaos. Now, in the latest in a long line of videogame remix albums comes “The Sound of Speed”, OCR’s Sonic the Hedgehog 1 remix album. They put out a snazzy teaser video a little bit ago – which serves as a preview for a handful of the album’s 13 tracks:

Overclocked ReMix has been one of the central hubs for videogame music culture for more than a decade. OCR originally began as a spin-off of Overclocked.com, a 3D CGI webcomic about videogames and emulation. As OCR’s popularity grew, it eventually took over Overclocked.com, becoming the site’s premiere attraction. Today, it hosts more than 2,000 videogame remixes from 500 remixers. In 2003, OCR released their first-ever ReMix Album “Relics of the Chozo”, based around the music of Super Metroid. OCR’s ReMix Albums would become so popular that the musicians of OCR were chosen to score the official soundtrack for the Xbox Live Arcade and PSN release of Super Street Fighter II HD Remix. “The Sound of Speed” marks OCR’s 25th total ReMix Album.

Currently “The Sound of Speed” does not seem to have a specific release date set in stone, but we’ll keep you posted.
