Don’t Lose Hope Yet, Wii and 3DS Owners
The news that Sonic Generations would be exclusive to XBOX 360 and Playstation 3 came as a surprise to many who only own a Nintendo system, especially since in recent year, Sonic has been most successful on those systems.
Will some of Sonic’s most loyal followers be left in the dark for the hedgehog’s 20th anniversary? Maybe not. The Spanish website Sonic Paradise cites a Q&A session from the latest edition of Nintendo Accion magazine that indicates Sega has at least been talking about a Sonic game for a Nintendo system to coincide with the anniversary beyond the second episode of Sonic the Hedgehog 4. A response to a reader question on whether anything Sonic was on the way for Wii or 3DS read:
Sega spoke of a new Sonic for this year, but no further details have been revealed.It would be the best way to celebrate his 20th anniversary.
This new Sonic could be any number of things. It could be the next Mario and Sonic compilation that seems pretty set in stone since we first showed you that prototype box art last week. It could be the 3DS specific Sonic revealed at last year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, only to know nothing about it since. Remember, if Sega’s Alan Pritchard is correct, the company has one or two more Sonic announcements up its sleeve. There’s a lot of time left to leave Nintendo console owners pleasantly surprised.

im just hoping they announce generations for the wii and 3ds… i dont think its fair that they are missing out on what looks like an epic sonic game, and i also dont think its fair that 360 or ps3 owners should miss out on wii titles like we did on colours… surely it cant be that hard to release each game for all 3? lol
but it is very hard at times. like for unleashed, it would be hard for the team to create levels in hd than spend alot of time degrading cuz they woudl have to make the levels all over again for the wii. i mean i have a 360 and a wii so watever happens im happy

Nintendo & Sega need to know that a 3rd Mario & Sonic olympic game is pretty much useless especially Nintendo. They might as well cancel the M & S game.
Good thing I have gamefly and can play it on my cousin’s system. Anyway I hope the game that they give for Wii owners is a game with the same gameplay as Sonic Colo(u)rs but probably not going to happen who knows. If it is a Mario and Sonic game I want it to be a fighting game or I suppose kinda a racing game. Just not another Olympics game just getting sick of that.

Good greif! Its NEVER going to happen! Understand? Never! Your SA3 was 06. I think the project is either a new Mario &Sonic game or(if we are lucky)a fix up of a game that went horribly wrong. Such as 06. You know, like finishing up what needed finishing.
We had a Sonic Adventure 3, in 2006… It was crap like the other two. The direction they are taking since Colors (simplicity, Sonic only gameplay) is the only working direction for Sonic in 3D and one that took far too long to happen. ST would be idiots to even consider SA5 at this point.
You guys, Sonic Adventure 3 didn’t come out yet. Sonic 06 is it’s OWN GAME.
@Sonikdude101 – How do you know? Who knows, maybe SEGA will surprise us. Oh, and if SA3 IS announced, I will be so tempted to tell you stuff like “I told you so!” or “CALLED IT!” and brag, but I won’t.
BTW, I bet all the Classic fans thought Sonic 4 will never come out, nor will classic Sonic be playable again. Now look.

I sure hope Sonic Generations will find some way onto a Nintendo system somehow (LEGALLY, of course), because I totally want to play that game, but I don’t want to have to buy a whole new console gaming system for it. Even for the game of my (literal) dreams.

The wii HD is just pissing me off, its coming in way too late, whatever it is. I will jizz when i see zelda in high def, but nintendo isnt going to come out with any games that will catch my eye i fear. Unless its backwards compatible with wii and gamecube its not in my book as a good idea. I would choose sonic 2006 over all the wii sonic games combined. Because I just think a high def system isnt about making it look shiny, but you are getting a flat out BIGGER/LONGER game. If i am paying 50 dollars for a game, i want it to get the most out of it. Look at ps2 unleashed and ps3 unleashed. Would you say they are worth the same price? Its the only sonic example i have. I love zelda TP, brawl, metroid, warioware with passion, but i use my wii for gamecube and VC games. Everyone on my campus (all game art students in college) feel the same way, and they all play shooters and i hate shooters! This is strictly a technical grade. All the systems have motion now, but the wii is the only one that is not hd. Therefore, its as if you bought 2 gamecubes, and are just now jumping into next gen gaming. I dont speak for everyone, but i speak for how i feel on the subject. Sonic not being on wii is a good thing, because you want to HOLY SHIT FUCKING WOW your audience for a 25th anneversery game, and wii has too many holdbacks on fantastic technology we have today. Zelda is fucking awesome, but if you saw it in HD, would you go back?
I can only hope for one for the Wii, I’m a sonic fan with a 4 year old sonic fan (hence why we own a Wii)

And some people are about the strict gameplay mechanics and dont care about graphics, thats fine, the wii is for you. But like the backwards compatible thing, besides the wii, nintendo forces you to keep your old system. What if the wii hd is not backwards compatible? I highly doubt you will keep your VC games, on the count of everyone not having an account to keep track of purchase online, but just on that wii system. They are coming in with hd soon, but what will make it so different from systems today? And those systems have to upgrade sometime as well, and i can assure you it will be higher than hd, and nintendo is kinda playing a funk card here. im waiting for the nintendo fanboys to flame me now. But sonic generations on wii would mean splitting up the team and less focus on one game, because the wii is so behind, it would be an entire new game all together, thus an entire team would be needed. The xbox and ps3 can handle about the same level on a similar operating system. Im just trying to say how i feel about it thoroughly to get my point at least heard. Nintendo is doing a good thing by going hd, but even so its at an awkward time and they are going to pay for it. Those who never owned a wii may buy one, but all the nintendo wii people have put so much money into the system already. Do you really thing the wii hd is going to use all the same white plastic? Do you think its going to support gamecube outlets? The wii was basically a motion gamecube, it had motion and wow’d everyone at the time, but they couldnt keep up graphically. I own a 3ds, but i never had a ds. So i feel like im getting more moneys worth and have ds games to try out while i wait for good 3ds games to come out. Id love to see sonic’s speed blur rush through in 3d, i hope to see sega use the 3ds well.
The wii has begun its fall, and the new zelda isnt even out yet! Ill bet some fantastic sonic games will come out on wii hd, and no i cant call any wii sonics now fantastic in my eyes. A great example is, try to turn your camera on any wii sonic game, go ahead and try, oh you cant, there isnt enough buttons! Not sure if wii unleashed can but you get the idea of “Holdbacks” and why im glad sega isnt messing around by splitting up the team. The fact ps2 and wii unleashed are at the same level shows you something at least right? And for the record, it most likely wont be called wii hd, most likely its going to be something new.
Storybook? According to an article posted here last year, the Storybook division worked on Sonic Colors, which was also aimed at a younger crowd. It also stated that because of the damage done to the brand, they chose not to continue the series. So no, there’s no way Sega would shoot themselves in the foot by making another installment, especially after the momentum they’ve built up recently.
@Thewafflefactory: It’s already been confirmed that it will be backwards compatable. And this is a next gen console, so it would likely be the first console out the gate.

I mean I agree that it shouldn’t be another Olympics game, especially since it’s just the Olympics and we already have regular Olympics! They’ll just be the same exact thing but with more characters…
But why are people “sick” of the Olympic Games already after only 2 games but not sick of Mario Party after like 50!?
Any why are people bashing on the SA3 hoper? Yeah I get it’s annoying to be spammed by disappointment that Sonic Gens is not SA3 from the, but why bash them for merely wanting an SA3? SEGA told the fans to voice that they want it if they really wanted it, so stop trying to silence their freedom of speech. They’re not hurting us. Why are people saying “It will NEVER happen” when Iizuka said “But that doesn’t mean it will never happen. The possibility is still open.” for? Even if he didn’t say that, how can you say “never” like there’s no possibility that one day they’ll just start making SA3?
Sonic Heroes is not SA3. Sonic 06 is not SA3. It’s a prequel/reboot that erases itself out of the canon (and even then SEGA still has to TELL you people it’s not canon). Further proof of this is Sonic Unleashed was Sonic Adventure 3 until they decided it was too different and made it an entirely new game! That alone, especially being somewhat recent, shows they are still thinking of a possible SA3 and even going as far to possibly attempt in MAKING it.
Now we have Sonic Generations which will go across games in Sonic History including the Adventure series.
I think SA3 is VERY possible, they’re just not currently working on it.

Unless it’s a Mario and Sonic platformer and NOT a pointless 3rd Olympic-themed party game like the leaked box art cover suggested, the Sonic 3DS game, or a Nintendo vs. Sega SSB-esque brawler, I really wouldn’t give a damn-ESPECIALLY if it’s another Olympic-themed party game.
I mean, not only is it Sonic’s 20th Anniversary, but it’s also MARIO’s 30th Anniversary as well. Not to mention Donkey Kong’s 30th anniversary-both the game which was the first Mario game in existance, as well as the titular character.
I mean seriously, fans would be pissed if Nintendo and Sega adknowledged both character’s anniversaries (I bet they would at E3, I mean seriously, why wouldn’t they), yet released another party game based on next year’s Olympic Games in order to celebrate the occasions.
I they announced that as WELL as a crossover platform, then I wouldn’t care.
I just hope that if there REALLY is (or will be) a MaS crossover platformer, I want Nintendo EAD and Sonic Team to cooperatively work on the game together (I wouldn’t mind if Nintendo EAD solely developed the game though XD).

Still bummed out that Generations is not on Wii. I prefer to play Generations on the Wii than any other system. Then again, Wii owners did get Sonic Colors while the 360 and PS3 owners didn’t…
If this so called “Wii/3DS exclusive + Anniversary game” turned out to be another Mario and Sonic Olympic game, I would be disappointed. Of course, I don’t think it would be possible.
As for the whole Sonic Adventure 3 dilemma…. I thought Sega said that Sonic Heroes was Sonic Adventure 3? I remember reading that somewhere. Or was it another Sonic game… but for sure it wasn’t Sonic ’06. I’m not saying it through opinion, I just remember reading an article either from here or from Sonic Stadium about that….
Anyway… I would love to see a Sega vs. Nintendo game.

There is no problem wanting Sonic Adventure 3 in of itself, but if SEGA keep getting spammed about the game, they’ll get the impression theres high demand for the it, and resort to their old ways, of huge casts, hubs, and all those other things that were the reason so many people began to hate the series to begin with.
Since Colors, the fanbase (or 90% of it) have began to have faith in the studio again, believing them to have learned from their mistakes and so on. Now if they decided to spring SA3 on us today, it would almost be like a joke, like they hadn’t learned anything at all.
Besides Colors is basically Sonic Adventure with all the bad bits taken out.

@Emily: I’d also be fine with an adventure 3 if done right, but this kid has been annoying quite a few of us here with this crap. He’s saying that Generations is a “disguise title” and SA3 is coming this year, with no proof to back it up his “claims” It seems he’s more in denile about it than he is being dumb. He acts like a spoiled brat when we tell him something he doesen’t wanna hear. That kid needs to grow up except the fact that he’s not always gonna get what he wants. Besides Sega’s already got their hands full with Sonic 4, you know, that other “highly anticipated” sequel. I don’t know why they’d need another one of those. Plus, pretty much evey main series game after adventure 2 could be considered a spirtual sequel, anyway.

Some of us prefer not to buy devices that are defective out of the box (360) or are manufactured by a company known to sue its customers for modifying their own devices (PS3).
That having been said, I will most likely not be getting this game, since Sega has shown it will negotiate with terrorists (green eyes whiners).

It can’t be Mario & Sonic at the London Olympics, they said it’s not going to be SPORTS related, Olympics is sports. Fighting can be too. It has to be a crossover with Mario in a adventure game. Why would they do the Olympics again? They’ve done BOTH summer and winter games and they’ve done ALL the Olympics sports, that’s why it was released on Wii and DS. It would all be an exact repeat. Unless it’s Storybook series game, it SHOULD be cause it’s SERIES and there’s only two games and I think there’s lots of other big stories Sonic could take on, I like the Storybook games cause we get to see a different transformation from Sonic, and cool ones too ( Super Sonic is awesome too).
@Gooch: So really, you’re telling people to shut up because you personally don’t want a SA3. That sounds like you don’t like that people want a SA3.
Gooch: I actually disagree with your 90% remark. To be sure, a quote from GAF on the fractured fanbase:
“The people championing 2D Sonic as the ideal for the series are as much of a vocal minority as the ones clamoring for SA3.”
The fact is, fans are so fractured after 20 years, and so many want such different things out of a title, that even Generations isn’t going to please everybody. We’re beyond that point, and Sega basically has to do the best it can.
A side note: I think we’ve technically already had Sonic Adventure 3 in Sonic Unleashed (given its Japanese title of Sonic World Adventure).

As odd as that sounds, I would be all for this. It would be quite fitting for the two anniversaries to merge as such. If that were the case, I would gladly relinquish Generations to the HD crowd.
I have a Wii and my brother’s old 360, so I can still play Generations whether or not is show upon Wii. That being said, I’d still buy it on Wii before 360 given the choice. Call it bias or fanboyism, I call it preference (the X Box controller is still ass). The Wii is my primary system and I want to buy my games for that, sue me.

You’re blind if you haven’t seen the phenomenal, deep games for Wii. Enjoy paying over $10-60 more (after hiked prices and DLC) for the same amount of content you used to get last generation with prettier (read: brown) graphics.
